According to the Australian Classification website, Project Sakura Wars (aka Shin Sakura Taisen in Japan) will be simply titled “Sakura Wars” in the West with the game rated for M for mature audiences by the Australian Classification website with sexual themes and violence.
No official announcement has been made by SEGA themselves regarding the final title as of yet but it seems that the final title chosen for the game could mean that the company may want to start with a blank state with this title in the West since the series has a small cult following in the West through multiple anime adaptions and the fifth game Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love released back in 2010.

Considering the downright miniscule following the series has over here treating it like a new start is probably the most sensible thing they could do. I simply hope Sega has prepared themselves for this franchise to be a slow burn in the west, at least at first. I mean the game will likely sell well, they simply need to give what is, I imagine for most western audiences, effectively a new IP the appropriate amount of time. Assuming it doesn’t blow up and get crazy popular, that just seems unlikely.
They could’ve titled it “Don’t buy this game” and I would’ve still bought it. A blank title like “Sakura Wars” makes sense however considering only one of the games got released in the west and the original was only translated to English recently by some dedicated fans. If anything surprises me It’s the “M” rating, I know it’s not the cleanest game but I don’t think it goes far enough to deserve that rating.
