This past week, George and I were asked to guest on SYFY Wire’s The Fandom Files podcast. The main topic of conversation was our reaction to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, and we also talked about the redesign, the overall story of the movie’s development, and our own beginnings in SEGA blogging.
You can listen to the February 24, 2020 episode here or search The Fandom Files on Google Play or Apple Podcasts.

Will give it a listen soon, but I recall even after the redesign you guys weren’t fans of the movie at all. Ironically, this movie is the thing that made Sonic/SEGA relevant to the masses again.
My wife (a non-Sonic fan) appreciated the cliched story for not inundating her with Sonic lore all at once. She is interested in the franchise and hopes for a sequel.
I on the other hand loved it. Its refreshing to see and hear a whole audience celebrate my childhood pastime for a change.
I can admit when I’m wrong. I wasn’t feeling the plot points and imo the movie still has massive weak points (hiding his powers, never hinting at tails and his new electric power are a hindering) but overall the movie was a fun, family friendly movie.
But we do talk about it on the podcast.
