Aliens vs Predator sells over 100,000 units in the UK

Aliens vs Predator has seen tremendous success for SEGA across all of Europe, but in particular, it’s sold very well for SEGA in the UK, not dropping out of the top 5 since releases three weeks ago, that title now resides number three in the British all formats charts. So it should come as no surprise to know that the title has done over 100,000 units and to be exact, that was just the Xbox360 version. ELSPA sales awards for February hands the silver award to the 360 version of AvP for getting past the 100,000 mark but another SEGA title also went for gold, as the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed sold over 200,000 units for SEGA in total since its release. All in all, a good few weeks with plenty of hits for SEGA, let’s see if they can carry on this fine form.

Yakuza 3 – Locations trailer

SEGA’s newest trailer for Yakuza 3 shows us the two locations you get to explore in and beat down any punks who come your way. Featuring Okinawa, as from Yakuza 3, Kazuma and Haruka’s permenant home address as well as Tokyo, the home of the Tojo Clan and several characters from Kazuma’s past.

Alpha Protocol trailer “A Man Alone” and release date announced

It seems we may finally get a solid date for SEGA’s latest RPG developed by Obsidian. Schedule for release way back in 2009 and delayed, if my memory serves me right, upto three times, SEGA has finally penciled in a date, May 27th and May 28th for Australia and Europe respectively and a slightly later date of June 1st for North America. In the mean time we get to enjoy a snazzy new trailer that shows a little more about the world and the events occurring in Alpha Protocol.

Yakuza 3 demo is missing content

“No time for love, Dr. Jones”

I played the Yakuza 3 Japanese demo for quite awhile and noticed some stuff that was missing from the US demo. First of all the arcade section was missing AnswerXAnswer arcade mini-game.

Then I also noticed that they took off hostess bar section. You can’t try it out in the demo, leading me to believe it is not going to be in the full game since the US trophy list that was just released is missing the 2 hostess trophies. This also confirms a rumor that came out a few months ago saying that the western release wouldn’t have the hostess sections in it.

Why did SEGA edit out hostess content from this game and not the others? No idea.

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing – DS Trailer

It’s getting awfully close to the release date and you would think SEGA has completely forgotten they’ve got a DS version of the game coming out. Well in the span of a few days we’ve got the demo and now a trailer and for a Nintendo DS game, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is indeed looking good. For those wondering when they can get their hands on the game, it’s available for purchase from 23rd February for America and 26th February for Europe and Austraila.

Yakuza 4 – Trailer #3

It’s been a while since we saw our last Yakuza 4 trailer, but no more! The latest trailer for the latest entry into the Yakuza 4 goes onto show the depth of the now much expanded Kamurocho from the underground to the top of various buildings. The trailer also shows the new move sets and HEAT moves able to be performed by the new characters and much more.

Rumor: Yakuza 3 western localization to have content taken out?

Before Yakuza 3 was announced, there were a ton of rumors about how the game was going to come out in the west, but one rumor said that stuff was going to be taken out. Now that it has been announced and coming out next month, you’d assume SEGA would talk about the cut content, if there was any. According to Nagoshi, in a Official Playstation Magazine interview, there was some stuff that was “minimized.”

“We did minimize certain parts of the game that would be difficult to understand to people outside of Japan.”Toshihiro Nagoshi, Producer for Yakuza 3

What did they tone down? Who knows, but SEGA is just hurting themselves by not just telling us; you know fans will find out what it is and whine about it after the game comes out. Though it doesn’t seem like cut content, more like skipped dialogue.

Yakuza movie coming west, used to promote Yakuza 3?

[Covers sort of look alike, cross promotion?]

Seems the Takashi Miike film titled “Like a Dragon” (the Japanese name for Yakuza series) is coming to America, over here it will be called Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The film cover even looks sort of like the cover for Yakuza 3, only better because the Yakuza 3 cover is uglier; they both share the same Yakuza logo.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is being released on February 23rd and you can pre-order that here. Yakuza 3 gets a March 9th release date, a must have pre-order.

Resonance of Fate dated for Europe

resonance-of-fate-3

SEGA have announced the release date to their new JRPG Resonance of Fate (Or End of Eternity in Japan). The new title comes from veteran RPG develop tri-ACE, known for their work on Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean. The game will be available from 26th March 2010, so if you’re interested in some gun battles spliced in with some role playing elements and strategy, you might want to check this one out.

New Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing trailer

Featuring All-Stars moves for several characters, from Doctor Robotnik’s Egg-O-Matic to Amigo’s Samba dance. And if you ever wondered what was Akira’s purpose to be sitting alongside Jacky, well you’ve got your answer now.

Yakuza 4: Second trailer gets fan translation

ThePatrick is known in the SEGA fandom in for his excellent translations of one particular series, Ryu Ga Gotoku, or Yakuza as we know it outside of Japan. Watch the Youtube video of his translation to find out what Kazuma is doing back in the world of Yakuza and the new characters he’ll get to meet along the way in Yakuza 4!

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 website update: Badniks

sonicep1

The American/European website of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 just got an update. A “Badniks” section has finally been added in the character box and for now, only one of a total of nine are shown (Hopefully nine is all their going to show us and not the total amount in the game!) and the first one revealed and one we’ve seen before, albeit in concept art, Motobug! Head over to SonictheHedgehog4.com if you want to see the game model to Sonic’s old foe.

Aliens vs Predator demo gets 14k downloads on Xbox Live

The multiplayer demo of Aliens vs Predator has been downloaded over 14,000 times over the weekend on Xbox Live. It is not all sunny news, since the PC version has recently patched a matchmaking bug, the Playstation 3 version is set to get a demo patch as well, according to Rebellion. They also say they are “really sorry”. Kind of hard to drop 60 bucks on a game when the demo is broken.

“Just looking at how the demo’s been rated on Xbox Live tells its own story – 14,000 downloads in a few days and an approval rating of 4.5/5, we’re absolutely delighted with the response….The one unforeseen issue was the matchmaking on PS3, that really came out of left field and we’ve still got Sony engineers helping us look into what is at fault. I understand why people question how it wasn’t spotted sooner but we just can’t replicate that kind of scale in normal testing.”

Very interesting. I expect Aliens vs Predator to do very well on the Xbox 360 and PC; should do alright on Playstation 3. Early reviews have been harsh and I hope bigger sites like IGN and 1up give out more informative and unbiased reviews. We shall post our review up when it launches.
