Welcome to another odd and exciting episode of the Swingin’ Report Show. This week George, Barry the Nomad and A.J. talk about their Fourth of July drinking, SEGA closing offices in Europe and finally the return of the purple Jester himself. No, I’m not talking about Prince, we are talking about NiGHTS! [Download] [Archive] [Archive] [RSS] [iTunes]
I think the first few seconds of the video should sum up the game pretty well. What the fuck indeed. Did someone say fuck? Must be an episode of My Life with SEGA!
“It’s a very special episode of My Life with SEGA this week. With my special guest star, Mickey Mac, we review one of the absolute worst fighting games ever released on the Sega Genesis.”
SEGA has announced that Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box and Dynamite Dekka (Die-Hard Arcade) will soon be making its way to the Japanese PSN. They are part of SEGA’s AGES 2500 line, Playstation 2 remakes of classic SEGA games for the Playstation 2. Now SEGA is pulling a inception and putting them on PSN.
But more people here will be interested in the first game SEGA is going to release on the PSN PS2 archives service, Dragon Force (trailer). That one will hit PSN on July 25th. SEGA West, we want these, please?
I was never fortunate or rich enough growing up to own a 32X. Actually I never meet anyone around the time that actually had one. So its good to see A.J. crack down some 32x reviews, even if the game pisses him off.
“It’s another “classic” episode from the vault. If you thought my review of Cliffhanger was scathing, just you wait until you endure the horror that is Motocross Championship for the SEGA Genesis 32X.”
Take a nostalgia trip this week with My Life with SEGA. This time around A.J. reviews the SEGA Master System. He also looks at some Master System games like After Burner, Alien Syndrome and Ghost House.

This week on My Life with SEGA we are having a classic episode. This week A.J. looks at Batman the video game on the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive.
“The Dark Knight Rises will be hitting theatres July 20th. It seems only fitting that we take a look back at Batman: The Video Game for SEGA Genesis….”
If you like the video subscribe and never miss an episode. If you have suggestions for other retro games you want to see reviewed, leave those in the comments.

“Hey, I’m A.J. Rosa and this is My Life with SEGA. The mayhem continues with the Italian Stallion: Part Duex! Today, I’m reviewing Judge Dredd for the Sega Genesis and Demolition Man for Genesis and Sega CD.”

Hello everyone, I’m proud to announce that “My Life with SEGA” is going to be the first YouTube series for us here at SEGAbits. Some of you guys might have already seen the show, if you have then you know it’s excellent. All new episodes of the series will now appear on the SEGAbits YouTube channel.
So what is the premise of the series? Looking at all those SEGA games we all grew up with and love. This is an ongoing thing here at SEGAbits, we are trying to get more retro content. Next week will be part 2 of A.J’s Stallion series. Hit the jump to see the first episode, which includes a review for Rambo III and Cliffhanger!
The Game Gear, SEGA’s little handheld that had a color screen and a very bright back lit screen, is over 20 years old. Sure the device never out sold Nintendo’s juggernaut known as the Game Boy. But if you were a SEGA fan back in the day, the bad battery life didn’t keep you away from owning one. Some people may wonder what sort of promotional events SEGA did before launching a device like the Game Gear. Well, this week on Monday Memories we take a look at “Operation Game Gear” and “Superstar Kids Challenge”.
Cracked.com posted an article titled “The 5 Worst Marketing Failures in the History of Video Games” and happen to use a Virtua Fighter image to promote the article. Since I’m a SEGA fan I decided it was worth a read. The SEGA Saturn comes in at number 5, with Jamie Kennedy’s E3 presentation coming in at number 4. Yeah, I guess fucking up a whole console generation is not as bad as having Jamie Kennedy talk for an hour super high at your E3 press conference.
I think SEGA got off easy, I’m sure they could have written a million ways SEGA has screwed up royally with their marketing or lack of marketing. Note: I like Clockwork Knights and Daytona USA so fuck the author of the article.
Hey, do you wish that GameStop still sold retro video games like SEGA Genesis carts? Well, if you are a PowerUp Rewards member you can now spend your points on SEGA Genesis games. Right now they only have Shining In the Darkness and Mortal Kombat. Yes, not the greatest selection, but it’s a good start!
I wasn’t going to post this due to the fact that GameStop sold out of their SEGA Genesis games. But, since they are in such high demand they will most likely get more. If you wondered how the PowerUp Rewards point system works, check out this great blog post on it.
Do you like new games? Do you like your Dreamcast? Then it’s most likely that you want a new game for your old Dreamcast. How about Redux: Dark Matter? It’s a arcade space side scrolling shooter? It’s true that the Dreamcast indie scene has released mostly these types of games, but they are pretty fun.
Sadly if you want Redux: Dark Matters to come to Dreamcast you will have to put in some cash. The developer started a kickstarter page for the project which will allow you to grab a limited edition (limited to 1,000) of Redux: Dark Waters and Dux 1.5. Think of it as a bonus for believing in the project. Above is a video showing the game in alpha stages. Game is being developed by René Hellwig from NG:DEV.TEAM (GunLord, Fast Striker, Last Hope and DUX) and KTX Software (The Haunted: Hells Reach, Gem’X iOS).
If you guys heard the latest Swingin’ Report Show, you probably heard me talk about this Sonic Drive-In advert. Look at that, a great nod to Outrun. I love this sort of stuff. Maybe Barry is right, maybe they just want to be bought out by SEGA.
Would you guys eat more at Sonic Drive-In if it was SEGA themed?
SMS Power! forum member thoja has spotted two SEGA Master System related shirts in his local mall. He said he found them in Bershka, a chain of Spanish stores from Spain. I have to say, I like the ideas but I don’t like white shirts all that much. I searched their site and only found a page for the Master System one, not the Alex Kidd one.
So what do you guys think of the shirts? Do you like in Europe? Maybe you should go out and check them out.
Hey, do you like Vectorman? Do you want to play Vectorman 2 on your current gen systems? Well you may be in luck because it seems that Vectorman 2 might be headed your way according to the Australian Classification Board.
The game is coming to ‘multi platforms’ so that means it is most likely coming to PC and all current gen consoles.
