Tekken finally crosses over into Virtua Fighter with the ‘Tekken 7 Collaboration Pack’

Since both Virtua Fighter and Tekken dominated 3D fighting games in the 90s, fans have been wondering when the company would create a Tekken x Virtua Fighter cross-over fighting game. Officially, neither game has crossed over in an official game, until now. Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown breaks that trend with the DLC “Tekken 7 Collaboration Pack” which is set to launch on June 1st.

This Tekken 7 Collaboration Pack includes:

  • 19 Tekken 7 outfits: When you equip these outfits, character customization will be disabled.
  • 20 full Tekken 7 background music tracks.
  • Tekken 7 UI interface
  • Two Tekken 7 collaboration titles: These titles are added into the “other” category when selecting titles.

While this isn’t a full fledge new crossover title, its nice to finally see an official Tekken cameo in some form within Virtua Fighter and maybe will open up the discussions for something larger in the future.

Rumor: Judgment TV Show in the works starring Takuya Kimura

According to Japanese website Nikkan Gendai, who has pushed the rumor that Japanese Network TV Asahi is in talks with Takuya Kimura to star as his video game character Takayuki Yagami for a real life Judgment TV series. The Japanese network had tried to get Takuya Kimura back for another season of the popular BG: Personal Bodyguard but refused, saying he wanted to do something new.

The project is sitting with a tentative title of 裁かれざるもの (Things That Cannot Be Judged) with no release date as of now. According to the description, it looks like the idea is to adapt the second game, Lost Judgment:

Rumor: Judgment coming to an end over disagreement with lead actor’s talent agency due to PC release

Ever since the first game of Judgment came out, everyone said that it was a one off game because of how famous and controlling lead actor Takuya Kimura’s (playing Takayuki Yagami) talent agency is. It was shocking seeing SEGA remaster the game, announce a sequel then name ‘Judgment‘ its action series moving forward; with the main Yakuza games being turn based.

Looks like the issues with Takuya Kimura may have just started as reported by Nikkan Taishu, Judgment series may be coming to an end, due to disputes between Kimura’s talent agency and SEGA over the release of the PC version of Lost Judgment (even tho Judgment was technically on Stadia, but I guess Japan hasn’t heard of the service).

“those on the side of the game developer and those on the side of [Kimura’s talent agency] Johnny’s are said to have been unable to reach an agreement regarding the platforms to sell the game.”

When Lost Judgment was announced the Japanese website listed Windows 10 and Steam as platforms for the game but as Tojo Dojo & Wario64 have pointed out, they have been removed.

SEGA did get back to PC Gamer where they stated:
