Shinobi: Art of Vengeance SEGA Villains Stage DLC Review – An Expansion That Pays Homage To SEGA’s Legacy and Offers Greater Challenges!

As one of the five legacy games to be released under the SEGA Power Surge initiative, SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance is one of the best action video games in the franchise that came out within the last year. Released in August 2025, the game earned widespread critical acclaim with Metacritic scores in the high 80s (87–88), making it the highest-rated Shinobi title of all time and one of the strongest action-platformers of 2025. This success underscores SEGA’s renewed commitment to reviving its classic IPs with high-quality modern experiences.

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance SEGA Villains Stage DLC Trailer Revealed + Free Update; Coming on April 3rd!

The stage is set for three epic showdowns! Today SEGA® and Lizardcube officially announced that the SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance™ SEGA Villains Stage DLC will release on April 3, 2026 for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Nintendo Switch. Master of the ninja arts Joe Musashi will face his fiercest battles yet as he takes on three legendary SEGA foes: the ruthless giant Death Adder (Golden Axe™), the “mad dog” of Shimano Goro Majima (Like a Dragon™/Yakuza™) and the evil genius Dr. Eggman (Sonic the Hedgehog™).

The SEGA Villains Stage DLC will take players through exciting new stages featuring stunning worlds inspired by beloved SEGA franchises. The DLC will include:

  • Three new bosses
  • Five new stages
  • Two new Boss Rush modes
  • Three new ninpo
  • Three new outfits
  • Six new music tracks

The SEGA Villains Stage DLC is included with purchase of the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game. Players who own the Standard Edition of the game can get in on the action by purchasing the DLC as a standalone item ($9.99 MSRP USD) or as an upgrade pack ($11.99 MSRP USD) when the DLC releases on April 3, 2026. Free Update Patch

Alongside the DLC release on April 3rd, SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance will also receive a free update patch. The patch will add a “Hardcore Mode” and combat system adjustments, and includes updates to character outlines, map and tutorial display features.

A ninja vs a mad dog. The final guest villain for the SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance SEGA Villains Stage DLC has been revealed! The Like a Dragon & Yakuza series’ charismatic ‘mad dog’ of Shimano Goro Majima will take on Joe Musashi in the game’s upcoming DLC.

SEGA has announced another iconic SEGA villain that will be appearing as a guest in the upcoming SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance DLC.
