Mega64: A Yakuza 3 Short Film

Mega64 now takes their ‘mocking ways’ and pokes fun at Yakuza 3’s western localization because bringing over a complex Japanese game like Yakuza needs changes for us, non-Japanese, to understand.

Yakuza 3 – Locations trailer

SEGA’s newest trailer for Yakuza 3 shows us the two locations you get to explore in and beat down any punks who come your way. Featuring Okinawa, as from Yakuza 3, Kazuma and Haruka’s permenant home address as well as Tokyo, the home of the Tojo Clan and several characters from Kazuma’s past.

SEGA explains missing Yakuza 3 content

SEGA has posted that they will be ‘up front’ about the missing content on their blog today, explaining why the content was cut. Basically, either it would be cut or Yakuza 3 won’t be release:

“Ultimately, the choice that had to be made was either no Yakuza 3 in the west, or a version of the game that was almost exactly the same, but with a little less trivia.”

SEGA confirms that the hostess sections are missing and “history trivia”, which I assume they mean the AnswerXAnswer arcade machine sections.

Yakuza 3 demo is missing content

“No time for love, Dr. Jones”

I played the Yakuza 3 Japanese demo for quite awhile and noticed some stuff that was missing from the US demo. First of all the arcade section was missing AnswerXAnswer arcade mini-game.

Then I also noticed that they took off hostess bar section. You can’t try it out in the demo, leading me to believe it is not going to be in the full game since the US trophy list that was just released is missing the 2 hostess trophies. This also confirms a rumor that came out a few months ago saying that the western release wouldn’t have the hostess sections in it.

Why did SEGA edit out hostess content from this game and not the others? No idea.

Yakuza 3 – Characters trailer

In SEGA’s latest trailer for the long overdue Yakuza 3, we get to have a look at the characters, old and new, that make up the complex storyline. From returning characters of Majima to Kazuma’s newest ally Rikiya, Kazuma going to have a job on his hand trying to stop an all out war from erupting within the Tojo Clan!

Rumor: Yakuza 3 western localization to have content taken out?

Before Yakuza 3 was announced, there were a ton of rumors about how the game was going to come out in the west, but one rumor said that stuff was going to be taken out. Now that it has been announced and coming out next month, you’d assume SEGA would talk about the cut content, if there was any. According to Nagoshi, in a Official Playstation Magazine interview, there was some stuff that was “minimized.”

“We did minimize certain parts of the game that would be difficult to understand to people outside of Japan.”Toshihiro Nagoshi, Producer for Yakuza 3

What did they tone down? Who knows, but SEGA is just hurting themselves by not just telling us; you know fans will find out what it is and whine about it after the game comes out. Though it doesn’t seem like cut content, more like skipped dialogue.

Yakuza movie coming west, used to promote Yakuza 3?

[Covers sort of look alike, cross promotion?]

Seems the Takashi Miike film titled “Like a Dragon” (the Japanese name for Yakuza series) is coming to America, over here it will be called Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The film cover even looks sort of like the cover for Yakuza 3, only better because the Yakuza 3 cover is uglier; they both share the same Yakuza logo.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is being released on February 23rd and you can pre-order that here. Yakuza 3 gets a March 9th release date, a must have pre-order.

Yakuza 3 gets first developer diary

SEGA is doing a series of developer dairies with Nagoshi about Yakuza 3. Must be weird, since he is also promoting Yakuza 4 in Japan. Isn’t that sort of like, time travel? He talks about his influences and the Japanese way of telling stories.

I mean, not much new but I just enjoy watching Nagoshi speak, in a heterosexual way.
