Bayonetta had a great soundtrack, but it’s clear the game’s director had an obsession with one, All-American classic: Fly Me to the Moon, one of my favorite songs from the great American songbook. Originally written by Bart Howard in 1954, it’s been performed by all the greats, including Frank Sinatra.
Perhaps the most notable part about this song’s inclusion in Bayonetta is the fact that it was integrated so deeply into the game. It wasn’t just a once used track, or something used in the end credits, but a song heard constantly throughout the game. Bayonetta herself even whispered the song in a scene.
This version, performed by Belgian singer Helena Noguerra, gives this age old classic a nice little SEGA twist. The background music sounds like something that would be perfectly at home in a multitude of SEGA arcade titles. All that said, I must admit I do prefer the version in the end credits, a 1963 by Brenda Lee. That will be getting its own Tuesday Tunes one day.
Below is my favorite version of this song, sung by Frank Sinatra

I can’t stand this song.
haha. For me it was one of those songs that was played just infrequently enough to keep from being annoying.
Thankfully, Mysterious Destiny got most of the play. Beautiful, perfect theme song for Bayonetta.
Didnt like it either tbh. Frankly the game’s music became alot better for me in the later stages. Alot more serious and atmospheric. I totally inderstand how iconic it is to bayonetta but of they ever make a bayonetta 2, i hope they adjust the style a tad bit into something more listenable. It did turn off quite alot of people. I remember feeling slightly awkward playing it with relatives around me, but hey, the game was just too awEsome for anyone to care that much
You uncultured swine! I loved this song, both the classic version and the updated version. Really awesome to see a modern game embrace a classic tune.
Never thought I’d hear Sinatra on SEGAbits!
Hey I did my best to like it. Really!!! :$ 🙁
If the music is what made it awkward to play around relatives, and not the constant burst of sexuality this game provides, then you’ve got some skewed views on what is awkward. 😛
Lol really? The sexual part was not that bad really. Around relatives was supposed to mean mostly around my brothers and they can dig that sort of sillyness. But the music was just sort of like a “what the hell” moment. But you know i think platinum handled it really well. If they had wanted, they could have let it play through the game. Thankfully it was excellently implemented in a balanced way. I was glad that the tone did get more serious
