SEGA explains missing Yakuza 3 content

SEGA has posted that they will be ‘up front’ about the missing content on their blog today, explaining why the content was cut. Basically, either it would be cut or Yakuza 3 won’t be release:

“Ultimately, the choice that had to be made was either no Yakuza 3 in the west, or a version of the game that was almost exactly the same, but with a little less trivia.”

SEGA confirms that the hostess sections are missing and “history trivia”, which I assume they mean the AnswerXAnswer arcade machine sections.

I won't complain as I don't know exactly what it is that I am missing out on.

As I can only read VERY basic japanese I would miss a lot more by buying the origianl version.

    Are you talkin' to me?

The hostess sections were kind of interesting in Yakuza 2, but also somewhat unfair and basically amounted to trial-and-error, and memorization. Sort of an interesting glimpse of a particular part of urban Japanese culture but not that fun in the game. And managing the hostess club? Selecting wallpaper and such? I tried that for a few minutes and then got the hell out of there and got back to taking a Lovely Penguin upside the head of some man-babies.

I never bothered with the Hostess side things in the first two games, so no big loss for me.

The choice they had to make was "Cut content or don't release the game at all"?

Is there a specific reason why they couldn't have kept the content in but released the game a month later? This just sounds like lazyness to me.

Non – complainers……..don't deny the grown – up Sega fans a complete Yakuza 4 just because you are an undersexed nerd who is too cowardly to speak up when dev's do something wrong.

Shame they had to cut contents, but I always felt this portion of the game was extremely trial and error to me so it doesn't bother me too much.

SEGA isn't in the wrong. This is their product, if they wished to cut content and change some gameplay, they can do it to their discretion. They've already lost money twice on the series overseas, I am betting, even if this content remained, they'll be losing it a third time. It's not like they are forcing customers to buy the game either or kept this hush hush after the release of the game.
