Unexpected items in English release of Phantasy Star Portable 2

It looks like SEGA is pulling all the tricks they can to get Phantasy Star Portable 2 localized with minimal cuts. SEGA America community manager Aaron Webber who goes by the name RubyEclipse sent an email to Siliconera about two items that will be making it into the English version of Phantasy Star Portable 2.

Hit the jump to read about the unexpected Japanese items that have made it into the English release.

Lance of Longinus

I don’t really know much about the Evengalion series, but I am guessing this is some kind of weapon the main character uses. The Lance of Longinus is filed under the spear category of weapons in PSP2.

Miku’s Leek

Hatsune Miku’s Leek is a double saber.

As of now, only the items have been confirmed and not the costumes. Siliconera has sent an email to SEGA America asking if the costumes will make it into the English release.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 looks like it is shaping up to have a great English counterpart to the Japanese version. Kudos to SEGA America for putting the effort into making the English release the best it can be.

It’s a good time be a fan of Phantasy Star and of SEGA Japan games in general. Phantasy Star Portable 2 is coming out this fall with both a PlayStation Network and a UMD release.

First post by ShadiWulf? He must be really excited for this game.

The Lance of Longinus is a spear which was allegedly used to stab Jesus Christ while he was on the cross.

It makes an appearence in Evangelion to kill stuff.

Question though, has anyone here imported the Japanese version?

Does it work from abroad online or would I be stuck in single player mode?

  5. ShadiWulf says:

Japanese version works anywhere online I'm pretty sure. All you need is to be registered with a Japanese PSN account. I would just wait for the English version though. All the stores have it listed as a September release date.

Here I thought it was called the Longinus because it was long.
