I'm kind of torn over the price choice. I really wanted to buy this game at release but 15 is a bit much for an episodic digital download relase. 🙁

  2. Consider this, you probably won't be paying for episode 2 any time soon. If these were monthly, I'd complain a little. But seeing as we'll probably see a new episode every 6-8 months, I'm fine with paying 15.

  3. Sharky says:

Oh! When I read the price from Nintendo Power I thought that ment £15 wasnt thinking in dollars… £9.99 is very reasonable I think.

    Will buy.

  4. Sharky says:

    Oh woah!

The Xbox360 one, which is the one ill be getting (dispite the crappy D-pad) is released ON MY BIRTHDAY!

13th October! Vanquish, Sonic 4… Haven't been this excited for a birthday since I was 13.

  5. DCGX says:

I'm torn with the price too. At least with Xbox Live there's a good chance of a sale, but I really wanted to get it on Wii.

  6. CrazyTails says:

I was going to buy the game, showing my support for a better episode 2, if it were 10 dollars.

15 however feels like an insult to me as a fan. I'm not retard to fall for this one. Not buying

  7. Sybnios says:

AT LAST!!! 6th of Oct is my birthday damn SEGA you missed it 😛 but it seems that is somebody else b-day instead! Anyway the price seems ok and I can't waaaaait! =)

Price is OK, first day buy

  9. Monkeroony says:

I wonder if this offers the same content as Rocket Knight adventures, especially as it's the same price.

  10. It seems to be even with Rocket Knight in terms of worlds/levels versus zones/acts. Both games have four worlds with four levels each, however Sonic 4 has the final stage, special stages and Super Sonic. Rocket Knight has an unlockable Hard mode and an Axel skin.

  11. Sega Stylista says:

Nintendo fan idiots don't recognize iphone as a legitimate threat yet it gets the first launch of this game.

  12. crackdude says:

    Expensive.

It might be a good game, but Adventure is 800 and I'm pretty sure it has more gameplay.

Not that it isn't worth the 1200.. It's just perspective.

    @CrazyTails

    >insult

it's 5 bucks. What you gonna buy with that, a croissant?

  13. CosmicCastaway says:

$15 dollars is very reasonable, I don't get why people are complaining. Some retail games are shorter than this will be and people will pay $60 for those games.

Anyway, October 12th is going to be eagerly awaited. I'm going to get this game the second it is put on the PSN.

  14. George says:

$15 dollars for a episodic game isn't very resonable. A standalone title, it is.

The issue with the pricing is that it has been shown, if you charge too much for a episode, it might mean the rest of the series won't pan out the way they want it.

There are a few games in the history of the format that suggest this. The PSN/XBLA Penny Arcade RPG titles, which was suppose to be 3 eps, but only released 2 due to poor sales of the first two. When they came out they cost 15 each.

I can also point at Shenmue, which was suppose to be 16 "chapters".

  15. CosmicCastaway says:

I think it's safe to say though that there is at least one more episode of Sonic 4 in development.

  16. crackdude says:

Like if Penny Arcade was supposed to sell as much as Sonic.

  17. George says:

I never said they were, just using it as an example of gamers being cheap to buy a RPG for 15 dollars.

  18. crackdude says:

It isn't a reference. It was wa-a-ay overpriced.

    Sonic4 isn't overpriced. It just isn't cheap.

  19. AshleyAshes says:

    4×3 stages for $15, when Sonic 1 had 6×3 stages for $60?

    …Yeah I don't see the issue here.
