Sonic Fan Remix demo is now out (download it here!)

You can now download the Sonic Fan Mix demo from the link below. The demo has 1 zone that spans 3 acts. No boss battle has been included.

[Direct Download | Torrent]

Personally I haven’t played it yet, but I would love to hear what you guys think. Leave your feedback in the comment section. This is the same one I posted the screens about, which I called Sonic 2 HD. Sorry, the name is ‘Sonic Fan Remix’.

This is really sad for Sonic Team.. What is going on? I loved and still love and play Sonic 4 but these guys, these simple fans over here, amateurs you may call them but they developed something that as soon as they complete the game it will be more good looking, more fun, more of everything compared to Sonic 4.

Now play the game and tell me if Sonic Team and SEGA don't look really embarrased!

  2. I doubt they'll be embarrassed, nor do I think that it's "really sad for Sonic Team". I see some pretty impressive pieces of fan art, but I doubt SEGA's in-house artists hang their heads in shame when they see drawings of Sonic.

I played it, it's a good fan effort but not by any means "holy crap amazing". Sonic Fan Remix has detailed visuals, but definitely not visuals that suit a Sonic game. Felt more like Sonic in Vectorman's world. If I were to rate it on fan game standards, it would be an "A" just for trying something besides hacking a rom and reusing existing sprites. As for rating it on SEGA standards, definitely a "C". Doesn't have the spirit of a Sonic Team game (more like BlueSky Software or UbiSoft) and does little to offer up something new in the gameplay department. Sonic 3 and 4 trump Fan Remix in that regard.

It's pretty good for a fan project. I liked what I played and would like to see more.

I get two new Sonic games in one month. I'm a very happy camper.

It would be nice if the guy posted some hardware requirements. I look at this and think 'Looks too pretty for my PC, or ist his just pretty with lots of graphical cheats like Outrun 2006?'

    No download available.

It has been taken down due to copyright. I had a feeling this would happen.

Too much stuff on the screen.

Nice fan game. But if it were to be released by Sega everyone would say it's shit.

  8. Treamcaster says:

Alright, I've played it with the full settings and it's amazing! Best Sonic game I've played since SA2. Too bad it's not a Sega game. Congrats to the developers!!

  9. Comments around the internet are starting to get pathetic. "SEGA put to shame", "proof once again that SEGA fails", "SEGA died years ago" etc.

    @ Barry.

Any old excuse to shit on Sega. Nothing new…

Played it… It's simply good for a fan game but if Sega had made THIS as Sonic 4 there would be just as much hate towards it. It's ugly and cluttered and silly looking.

    @Sharky

You hit the nail on the head.

Sega has always attracted responses like this especially during the span between Saturn to Dreamcast. It's really childish to go so out of thier way to crap on Sega.

Better than Sonic 4? That comes down to opinion. I think there's a place for both.

It would be nice if Sega did the right thing and took these fan developers under thier wing and help them polish the graphics a bit and publishe it for them.

SEGA has got a lot of crap yeah, but I don't think it's a "SEGA" thing in this case. I think it's more of a "sonic" case alone.
