UPDATE: Available in Australia too. Rumored at $200 (AUS)
Today, Sega decided to torture me by showing off the Sonic Generations Collector’s edition exclusively for Europe (I’m American).
Included in the collector’s edition is a collectable figurine featuring both Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic, an exclusive, individually numbered commemorative “Gold Ring”, and a “20 Years of Sonic Art” book, containing never before seen sketches and images from the past 20 years. Also contained in the Collector’s Edition are the ‘20th Anniversary Sonic Soundtrack’ featuring a selection of tracks handpicked by Sonic Team, and the ‘History of Sonic: Birth of an Icon’ documentary, an exclusive collection of interviews and footage charting Sonic’s life from inception through to becoming one of the most iconic characters in videogame history. Limited edition lenticular packaging and bonus additional downloadable content for the game are the final components that make up this unique collector’s edition for Sonic Generations.
No details have been given on price. Man, I GOTTA have this thing!! I just got to figure out how. Help me in the comments folks! …Please?
UPDATE: Actually, if it’s near $200, I might pass. Grrrrr.
SECOND UPDATE: It appears Amazon Germany will ship the game to the United States. Total cost is $138 after shipping and price conversion. Not too shabby! Better than $200 at least.

Import it. That’s what Im doing. It’s worth it for the artbook alone of which is a first for the franchise.
Holy shhhhh. This is the first time I am tempted to get a collectors set, and I think the stuff that come with it are worth more than the actual game itself trolololo
It’s gonna have to be the PS3 version. PS3’s are region free right?
200? I watch Online.
It’s a bummer that this is a European exclusive. You are all so lucky!
Really bummed that this isn’t hitting the US.
Over at the SEGA Blog they are getting a lot of crap, but they sort of deserve it. I mean, they combined the UK and US blog and then make this big announcements with a “UK only tag” after the header and awesome photo. One reason to have different blogs. Also, the post was made by a SoA member, which is a bit screwy.
Looking to cost $150 based on this New Zealand price: http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/Xbox-360/Sonic-Generations-Collectors-Edition/18342379/
One Sonic fan has suggested having a friend in the UK buy the set, remove the game from the slipcover, return the game for $50 back and then the UK dude ships to the US dude less the $50. Making the thing cost around $100 and the US person can still pre-order the US version of the game (all this is assuming they can’t play the UK game on their console).
i want one 🙁 and yes the ps3 version are free i going to get the 3ds version because you can play tails yaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy 🙂
REGION FREE SORRY
Europe game releases is becoming the new Japan for extras. Damn.
200 AUS is actually nowhere near as much as it sounds like, plus you have to remember all Australian games are overpriced as is.
I know SEGA America likes to skip on retail special editions, manuals and stuff, and I can maybe understand it with games like Bayonetta, but not Sonic, not with the anniversary game. This seriously is bullshit.
lucky b@$+@&#$!!!! at least i’ll still get the immeasurable joy of playing as Classic Sonic…unless that’s a Euro xclusive too. In which case I’ll turn my neighborhood into the streets of rage.
SEGA hates America. I thought everyone knew that.
It’s $140 american at amazon.co.uk. Only bad news is, they don’t ship to the USA. So you’d need a UK buddy to pre-order you one, and then they’d ship it. Still, not a bad deal.
UPDATE: Amazon Germany ships to the USA! The total price is 98 euros, or $138. This includes shipping. EVerything is the same as the UK version, except that the game is the German version. The rest features multiple languages (the DVD, the CD booklet, the art book) or no languages (the ring, the statue).
