Android and iOS: Sonic the Hedgehog remastered video surfaces, as well as date and price

Android Police have posted gameplay video of the remastered Sonic the Hedgehog game, which is releasing soon to Android and iOS platforms. How soon? According to Android Police, the game is set to hit this month and will retail for $2.99, the same price as the existing app on iOS (which SEGA has said will update to the remastered version).

It appears that the video above has been edited to remove the menu screen, which has been noted in past previews. Perhaps there were a few surprises that SEGA didn’t want spoiled just yet? Also, oddly, there is little to no sound in the above video. Hopefully SEGA releases a proper trailer soon so we get more of an idea of how the game will look and sound.

Doesn’t seem as impressive an HD-port as Sonic CD, sadly.

Noticed the clouds now moving (quickly) as opposed to the original. Not sure if that’s an amazing upgrade or not.

I really wish they would just let the guy who did the HD Fan Remix of Sonic do these kinda HD-versions. His games looked absolutely A-MA-ZING, and it played great as well (I played the demo which had the first 3 levels).

the clouds actually dont move at all in the classics. only in the start menu. them moving like that does look kinda strange though

@ Yi-Long: I disagree. Sonic Fan Remix is good for a particular fans vision. If he wanted a dystopian Emerald hill zone that is fine. I enjoyed it, but I will always prefer the original and therefore I recommend the guy who did Sonic 2 HD remix.

This is Sonic the Hedgehog REV 01. It is a version that had multiple bugs fixed and made the clouds scroll. That is not something that Taxman added in his port.
