Bayonetta 2 will have touch control option and 2-player mode

Bayonetta2

Platinum Games is really trying to step up their game for the upcoming sequel to their best selling title. This time around they announced that Bayonetta 2 will have a 2-player mode when it comes out next year.

They said that even though Bayonetta 2 is built around a single-player experience, that they included a 2-player mode with new combat features for mid-air battles. Details aren’t all there yet.

Bayonetta 2 will also feature touch controls via the Wii U gamepad and stylus. Nintendo says this is designed for newcomers to the franchise and is obviously optional. The touch controls are actually playable at the E3 show floor, so expect us to have hands-on previews shortly!

How do the touch controls work?

  • Move – tap to where you want to go
  • Jump – swipe up
  • Attack – tap an enemy and repeat taps start combos
  • Evade – swipe backwards
  • Witch time – do an evade swipe right before an enemy attacks
  • Umbra Climax – a command shows up on screen to tap

I tried the touch version because Bayonetta plays like Bayonetta and Alex is covering the regular button mash style It plays like an iPad game and you have to look on the gamepad screen all the time to play It’s basically an easu mode, but who’s gonna play it like this?

The egular demo was awesome, but too long (15 minutes it seemed) considering the amount of people waiting in line to play.

Also, I think Bayonetta 2 had more demo stations at the Nintendo booth than Super Mario 3D World XD

I hope the Pro Crontroller is also supported for a more traditional gaming experience. I really want to like the Wii U after the investment I’ve made in it and now a load of letdown after letdown. This is one of the few games that keeps me from wanting to just put my console up on eBay at this point.
