Panzer Dragoon remake coming to Nintendo Switch

Nintendo’s E3 Direct gave Panzer Dragoon fans a first look at the upcoming remakes, something we covered back in December 2018. The first two games are being remade by Forever Entertainment, and while all platforms have not been revealed, we now know the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch this winter. More information as we hear it, and after the break you can read the original press release!

Forever Entertainment together with SEGA Holding Co., Ltd. from Japan will co-create and publish Panzer Dragoon: Remake and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake. The premiere of the first part is planned before the end of 2019!

Panzer Dragoon: Remake is a refreshed version of Panzer Dragoon. The original version of the game had its premiere on the Sega Saturn console in 1995 and was well received by both players and critics. The entire Panzer Dragoon series has been repeatedly remade and released on many platforms. The last re-launch took place in April 2018 on Xbox One, where players can play Panzer Dragoon Orta with a backward compatibility. The new version of the game will be characterized by a completely new graphics compatible with today’s standards and several modifications of the game, making it more attractive to modern players, while remaining faithful to the original in terms of story. The first materials from the game will be presented in the upcoming months!

Aw hells yes! That dragon cry, tho. Is it the JP Trex or sqealing sound of Lagi/Lundi that I know and love?

It better not be exclusive to the switch!

    Looks horrid *cries*

Panzer Dragon remake looked more like Day of the Triffids than Panzer Dragoon. The lovely Italian Gothic-like architecture in Panzer, replaced with Unreal awfulness, even the Saturn’s baked in reflections of Saturn original, all gone

Looks pretty underwhelming. Kinda strange that Nintendo chose to highlight it in the Direct.

Not a great trailer, but that damn title theme still gives me goosebumps. There’s another trailer that better shows how the game plays, but it’s not well edited either. They needed to better showcase the “wow” moments of the level, but it doesn’t seem like enough of the game is complete to show off yet. If it’s coming out 5-6 months from now… then I’m a bit concerned.

I need to hear some damn lock-on sound effects though. The game feels extremely weird without them.

On the bloody Nintendo Bitch again all places.
    Another damn Nintendo hardware.

This doesn’t feel like Panzer Dragoon, it looks more muckier colour wise, what happened to the Sega blues of the Sega Saturn original which looked !more authentic, this just looks a bit like a cheap make over.

I get this is a remake and still not 100% complete but Panzer Dragoon is characteristically a series which always pushed silkier graphics, this has a rougher grungier look to it.
And Switch exclusive to boot? Hope not and hopefully it turns out to not be too disappointing.

Although I am excited to see that one of my all-time favorite series is getting much needed attention, what I see is so… meh. The art style doesn’t fully match the Panzer Dragoon universe. It is hard to describe but the Pander Dragoon magic is just missing. With some hard work this could become a worthy homage but that is a difficult task.
