Sonic Colours Multiplayer hands on

Here is a video showing off the brand new multiplayer game play in Sonic Colours for the Wii. You will unlock multiplayer levels as you collect hidden red rings in the single player zones.

Multiplayer is a Co-op affair with where you use wisp powers to help each other get though the level. There is also a hint of competitiveness to keep things exciting.

I personally hope they also bring back a VS racing mode like in the classics or Sonic Adventure 2:Battle.

Yakuza 4 Box Art Revealed!

Pretty damn good right? While Yakuza 1 and 2 had pretty good box art, Sega got a lot of flack for the rather cheap looking Yakuza 3 cover art.

However rejoice, Yakuza 4 has one a very striking and suitable box art, in fact I would go as far as to say it is the best Western cover art for the series so far.

Note the subliminal messages all over the cover promoting ‘sexy girls’ and sex in general, nice!

Sonic 4 Lost Labyrinth trailer

So, what can we complain about this time? He runs… too fast? No, his shoes are the wrong red! He should be left handed!

But in all seriousness, personally I think this game is looking very, very good. Are people going to find things to complain about? Of course they will. But I’m seeing 2D game play, I’m seeing just Sonic playable, badniks, zones, platforming, no voice acting, no bad scripts, no shitty pop music. So, my personal biggest complaints have been delt with.

Will it have its faults? I guarantee it! Will it be the closest thing to classic Sonic we have seen in 15 odd years? I’m betting on yes.

Also If I’m not mistaken, this seems to be a newer build of the game. The Sonic model looks slightly different, moves slightly different. But I’ll let our forum members do the analyzing.

Vanquish story trailer

This awesome new story trailer for Vanquish has got me right pumped!

To be quite honest I haven’t really been looking forward to the story of Vanquish I suspected it might be a bit of a throw away story to help set up the mad situations the main character may find himself in. Like Bayonetta. I’m in love with the game play in demo though.

However now, after this frankly very cool trailer, I’m excited for both. Bring on Vanquish!

Iizuka wants to do more NiGHTS

In a recent interview with EuroGamer Takashi Iizuka of Sonic Team mentioned that he would like to make another game in the NiGHTS series.

This was translated on our forum from Portuguese as the English version of Eurogamer doesn’t have it up yet.

“Personally I’d really like to make a third NiGHTS game, but it all depends on SEGA.”
Said Iizuka.

Now, Mr. Iizuka… I’m all for another NiGHTS game but please take heed, there are strict guidelines that need following!

Yakuza Black Panther footage

Somewhere deep in this Japanese madness is ingame footage of Yakuza Black Panther for the PSP.

One clip shows off a two player battle mode that looks a lot like a fighting game and another shows off one of the hostesses doing her thing. The graphics look really good for a PSP game, check it out!

Ulala Dancer in Year 2000

I saw this today and thought I would share it with you guys. 10 years ago Sega was promoting Space Channel 5 for the Dreamcast at Universal City Walk in California. I can’t think of a better way to promote a game about a hot dancing space babe… In fact I think all games should be promoted like this!

P.S, I guess it IS cold in space, if you know what I mean… Phwar!

Shogun 2 In-game footage

Here is an in-game presentation of the newest Total War game, Shogun 2:Total War. The video isn’t the best quality but you can understand the jist of it.

In the video the presenter speaks about their new engine as well as the effects it can do. He also mentions the staggering number of units on screen, a possible 56 thousand! Finally engaging in a large scale land battle.

This is very impressive tech even at this pre-alpha stage.

Sega at PAX! + Gameworks Party!

Sega are heading to PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) this year with what I’m sure you will agree is very strong line up. Not only will Sega be on the show floor demoing some of their upcoming games but they will be holding a party event for the Sega community across the street from PAX at the Sega GameWorks Arcade.

Virtua Tennis 4 played right

Thank Buddha someone’s got their eye on the ball, right? (pun)

Of all the journalists paid to play and write about videogames the best video of Virtua Tennis 4 actually being played by competent gamers comes from the guys over at SegaOnline.nl.

Good game guys!

Green Wisp spotted in action!

The nice people over at revogamers.net have managed to record or find a recording of the green wisp in action!

The green wisp seems to turn our blue hero into some kind of green, floating rocket which you can control for a short period of time. Another fun looking addition which once again opening up new game play possibilities, serest routes and hidden areas to unlock.

On another note, what is the deal with those red rings spread though out the stage? What do you think or hope they do once you collect them all? Personally I hope they unlock new ‘challenge’ stages that revolve around using the wisp powers.

Sega Series – Hurt and Healed.

Disclaimer; What follows is the humble opinions of a Sega fan! You may not agree with these opinions, but that would just make you WRONG! 😉

I would usually argue that anyone still toting the ‘Sega makes crap games’ line needs a swift kick to the nuts. Not only because this all to common phrase is simply not true, but also because this must mean the person suggesting such a thing would have missed a lot of frankly brilliant Sega games released recently such as Yakuza 3, Valkyria Chronicles, Bayonetta, Phantasy Star Portable 2, Napoleon: Total War and After Burner Climax to name but a few released this year.

Not to mention, we often tend to forget forget Sega has a strong Arcade presents to uphold. Games like Border Break, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown and Lets go Island are all quality games that have yet to see the light of day outside of a Japanese arcade.

I’m not here to talk about all of the things SEGA’s done right, though. Anyone who’s actually interested in good SEGA games can find that out for themselves. What I intend to talk about is how this misconception started and where it does have some grounds in truth. We’ll be looking at the games Sega really did mess up, how they were fixed and if they weren’t how I personally feel they could be.
So let’s start this ruckus!
