Binary Domain’s TGS Stage Show Was Awesome, Watch It Here

Video streaming by Ustream
Yes, Binary Domain had us questioning how good the game would be. Well, that was until we saw their TGS Stage Show for the title, spanning a little over 20 minutes. The gameplay looks awesome and the Japanese voice acting talent has people from the Yakuza franchise returning. As you know, the voice acting in the Yakuza games is fantastic.

But hey, don’t take my word for it. Watch the video above.

SEGA Sound Team reunited as Blind Spot

SEGA Sound Team (aka S.S.T. Band) has to be one of the best live bands that SEGA ever had, yes better than Crush 40 and they are back! The full band is together and is now performing under the name “Blind Spot”. Probably due to some copyright issues, but who knows.

Here is the set list for their first show.

  • Theme [Space Harrier]
  • Soup Up [Rad Mobile]
  • Like the Wind [Power Drift]
  • Blue Moon [SDI]
  • Outride A Crisis [Super Hang-On]
  • Beyond The Galaxy [Galaxy Forge]
  • Thunder Blade ~ Burning Point [Thunder Blade]
  • After Burner [After Burner]
  • Magical Sound Shower [Outrun]
Here are a couple of youtube videos of the band practicing. So if you live in Japan and they are playing a live show, show up. Support the band!

We will be having a TGS talkathon! Join us!

We are a little less than 24 hours before SEGA has their first TGS conference, so its about time I posted this. Most of the staff and some of the community users will be having a Mumble chat together and you can join. All you have to do is download Mumble here.

Once you install it, open it up and go to Server>Connect>Add New. Once you get there, fill out the box with the following:

  • Label: Whatever you want to call the connection
  • Address: vx38.commandchannel.com
  • Port: 31366
  • Username: Your display name people will see goes here
I suggest most users set a ‘push to talk’ button. Its not that hard. On the program go to Configure>Audio Wizard. After you go through all the pages, you will come to one like this, click on push to talk and in the blank spot press a key.
We will be on mostly during the big SEGA stage shows each day, you can see the stage show schedule here

Hatsune Miku comes to 3DS in Project Mirai

Hatsune Miku Project Diva has been making a ton of money on both the PSP and Arcades, but now the franchise is going to come to the Nintendo 3DS. The game tentatively being called “Hatsune Miku Project Mirari” (Mirari = future).

The game will obviously be supporting 3D, but that isn’t all. The device will support Augmented Reality cards. Basically, you will be able to get cards, that you put on a surface like your table and when you point the 3DS camera you will see a Hatsune Miku concert. AR concert is what SEGA will call it.

The game is scheduled to come out around March 2012 in Japan.

Fan pays tribute to the Dreamcast by making custom Samba de Amigo toy

So now that we have cooled down from all the Dreamcast Anniversary posting, we can look at what some other people have been doing to celebrate Dreamcast’s 12 anniversary. This one comes in from Albert Art:

“I’m excited to reveal my latest custom toy, a 10″ MAD*L to celebrate the 12th Anniversary of the SEGA DREAMCAST which launched on 9.9.99 (September 9, 1999).

As a fan of the videogame console, and of the games on the Dreamcast, I decided to create this toy to pay respect to the long gone videogame platform, which inspired me to become an artist during high school. This is a very special toy, and I hope you enjoy it!

Happy Sega Dreamcast Anniversary 9.9.11”

If you want to read more about the toy and see more pictures, check out his blog here.

Swingin’ Report Show #20: Dreamcast Turns 12

The Dreamcast turns twelve years old. Poor white dream machine is hitting that awkward age, so we decided to give it a few sex tips. Remember, never talk to those slutty Sony children or the happy Nintendo kids. This podcast has me, nSega, Barry, and Shigs talking about our fondest Dreamcast memories, which Sonic Adventure game was truly better, plus some Shenmue craziness and much more. Let the nostalgia rise.

The Dreamcast turns 12 today!

It has been 12 years since that sweet white dream machine landed on American shores and blew us away with a stellar launch line up. Gaming has changed quite a bit, most of it thanks to stuff started by SEGA with the Dreamcast.

Even though we still get plenty of games, I think we can all agree on one thing; It’s not the same without having a SEGA console. Can you believe that SEGA hasn’t released a console in 12 years? I feel old.

Happy Birthday Dreamcast.

Guardian Heroes coming to XBLA on October 12th

We had a false alarm last week, when Major Nelson said that Guardian Heroes was suppose to come out. It actually did come out on Mexico’s XBLA, but was quickly taken down. Now SEGA says we actually have to wait till next month before we get to play Guardian Heroes and its 12 player online co-op.

As for readers, like myself, that would prefer a PSN version, there is nothing to announce at this moment. So if you have an Xbox 360, put down 800pts when this hits the service on October 12th.

SEGA drops prices on some Game on Demand titles

Something I always hated about Games on Demand or any other ‘buy full titles digitally’ on consoles is that they always overprice the game in question. Did you know that Vanquish was $40 dollars? Well was, since SEGA just announced a much needed price drop.

Here are the price drops:

  • Vanquish – $39.99/£29.99   $19.99/£14.99
  • Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing –  $29.99 $19.99
  • Virtua Tennis 2009 – $29.99 $19.99
  • Aliens vs. Predator – $29.99 $19.99
Now these titles are ten dollars under the ‘greatest hits’ or ‘platinum hits’ fee they would normally charge for them new. So they aren’t badly priced anymore.

Sonic the Hedgehog paper craft up for pre-order

Ami Ami, the largest Japanese internet figure shop, has put a new product up for pre-order. A Sonic the Hedgehog paper craft. So what do you get with the product? I assume the printed out full color high quality paper and instructions on how to assemble the figurine. They said you can make the figure above in 10 minutes without using scissors or glue.

The figure will be 11cm tall and will cost you 630 yen (About $8 USD), doesn’t include stuff like taxes or shipping and handling. It will get release mid-November. It takes time to print paper.  Yes, Ami Ami does ship world wide.

Swingin’ Report Show #19: Buff Shirtless Men

In this episode we sit around talking about the recent announcements of Yakuza Black Panther 2, Yakuza 5, and show our appreciation for buff men without shirts. We go over this weeks news and answer viewer questions, even if they are a bit odd this time around. We are also on iTunes now, having some issues with the RSS still, but you can subscribe. Remember to leave us pretty reviews.
