SEGA Mega Drive Mini delayed until October in Europe

SEGA Europe has announced that due to “unavoidable logistical challenges”, the SEGA Mega Drive Mini would miss the worldwide release date of September 19th and would now release on October 4th. SEGA Europe also said “We are committed to a successful launch for consumers in all territories, and this step will ensure we can meet demand and fulfill all the individual pre-orders and retail orders in Europe and the Middle East at the same time. Customers in those regions are still able to preorder from participating retailers and those who have already preordered will only have to wait an extra two weeks for their little box full of retro magic.”

Some are speculating Brexit has something to do with it, which will undoubtably have an impact on SEGA Europe in many other ways. What are your thoughts on the two week delay?

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life delayed, demo release date announced

We have good news and bad news. The good news is SEGA will be releasing a demo for Yakuza 6: The Song of Life on February 27th. The demo will allow players to bring their save into the full game upon release, so you can start your adventure early. The bad news is that the game will be delayed a month, releasing April 17, 2018. The move was cited as a tough business decision, but claims this gives more time to line things up for launch. The change puts Yakuza 6 4 days away from God of War, which some fear will hurt sales. However I personally think Yakuza has enough of a dedicated fanbase and the games are different enough that it really won’t be a big deal. Plus, does God of War have a premium edition that comes with drinking acoutrama?

You can still pre-order Yakuza 6: The Song of Life Essence of Art Edition for PlayStation 4, so if you haven’t already then get on it!

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice moved to 2016… and SEGA says it’s a good thing!

Rumors were circulating that SEGA’s upcoming Nintendo 3DS title Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, the sequel to last year’s Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, was delayed from its original release date of Holiday 2015 to 2016 after video game rental company GameFly revised their release info. Now, SEGA has officially confirmed the delay and surprisingly are being open about why the game has been delayed. Sonic franchise social media and PR superstar Aaron Webber has posted an article on the SEGA Blog explaining that they want to give the game the time and polish needed. No exact window has been given, only that “it’ll be ready when it’s ready!”

SEGA West delays Anarchy Reigns despite the game being completed

Platinum Games has said that SEGA has delayed Anarchy Reigns in Europe and North America, even though the game is all finished. Its release date was changed from July to  TBC (To Be Confirmed). This is what a Platinum Games representative said:

“That means ‘to be confirmed’, not ‘to be cancelled’. We worked really hard to make sure everybody could get the game on time. The game is fully localized. If you buy the Japanese version or any version, it’s going to have all the languages in it. We really wanted everybody online around the world to play together at the same time, but unfortunately that’s not going to happen. In the West, Sega is looking for the best time to put it out. It will still be out in July [in Japan]. There will still be ways for you to get it if you know where to go. We’re still 100 per cent behind the game and we still want to connect with you and play with you and have a good time. So let’s make sure that happens no matter what bad news we get.”

This is one of the few times I have seen a representative from a developer openly suggesting to import their game. How are prospects looking for a Western release? I don’t know, if ‘summer’ isn’t a good time to release this niche title, then when is a good time? Fall?  Not to mention SEGA West is acting like the game doesn’t exist. Anarchy Reigns comes out in Japan on 5th of July. Get your import pre-orders in.

Aliens: Conlonal Marines gets delayed into 2013, over half a decade since the game was announced

Today, SEGA has revealed a final release date for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions of their upcoming Aliens game. The game will be available February 13th, 2013, more than six years after it was first announced on December 11th, 2006, alongside the canceled WRPG Aliens game from Oblivion. By the time gamers will finally be able to play the game, an entire console generation would have nearly come and gone.

Will the wait be worth it? Who knows, but above is a trailer to help you pass the time. The Wii U version of this game still doesn’t have a confirmed release date.

Rise of Nightmares gets delayed?

The website Electronic Theatre has reported that Rise of Nightmares has been delayed throughout Europe and won’t make its promised debut next month. So when is it coming out? According to the site, there is no release date set.

The reason I’m running it as a rumor is because I never heard of this site. None of the bigger sites have confirmed it, SEGA hasn’t confirmed it either. But will I be shocked if its delayed? No.
