Rumor: Nintendo website hints at possible SNK character appearing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is pretty much a video game celebration at this point, going above and beyond expectations to create the best crossover possible. But it seems like another major player may have been accidentally confirmed by Nintendo themselves. The website mentions “SNK Corporation” while describing what the Challenger Pack 4 DLC contains in the copyright section. Nothing specific has been leaked about what the SNK content is, however it does confirm that it will contain a new fighter, stage, and music, like the other Challenger Packs.

SNK is in particular known for IPs like King of Fighters, Fatal FurySamurai Shodown, and Metal Slug, and in the context of SEGA has done collaborative work for the Dreamcast and Neo Geo Pocket, even borrowing some of SEGA IPs like Sonic the Hedgehog and Puyo Puyo in the meanwhile. Considering the popularity of the King of Fighters series in particular, there’s a strong chance that the fighter might be Terry Bogard, the protagonist of the Fatal Fury series and a recurring fighter in the King of Fighters series. Maybe even someone from Metal Slug like Marco or Tarma. Either way, we’ll have to wait for official confirmation from Nintendo/SNK themselves. Until then, maybe boot up your Dreamcast to play some Capcom vs. SNK.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 reveals overpriced DLC schedule

It seemed the last few years SEGA has been pretty smart with pricing, giving us some great content and launch editions for a fraction of the price. Now it seems SEGA is really believing that Valkyria Chronicles 4 will do really well since they announced their DLC schedule and pricing for Americas and Europe.

  • Japanese Voice Pack  | FREE | September 25
  • Tank Decals | Free | September 25
  • Squad E, to the Beach | $6.99 | October 9
  • A Captainless Squad | $4.99 (free with digital pre-orders) | October 23
  • Expert Level Skirmishes | $4.99 | November 4
  • The Two Valkyria | $4.99 | November 20
  • Edy’s Advance Ops | $3.99 (free if you get the limited edition) | December 4
  • A United Front with Squad 7 | $5.99 (free if you get the limited edition) | December 18

That means that it will cost you a total of 31.94 dollars worth of DLC if you want the complete version of Valkyria Chronicles 4. That means if you buy the physical standard edition, since it seems ‘A Captainless Squad‘ is only for digital pre-orders, you’ll end up paying over 90 dollars when its all said and done. Its a bit weird that SEGA is charging more for DLC than they are charging for a Yakuza 0 port on PC. I’m all for DLC as long as its fairly priced and this isn’t. I mean 5 dollars for expert level skirmishes? The game hits North America and Europe on September 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. But when is the complete edition coming out?

Sonic Forces Super Sonic DLC is now free, forever

If you guys remember last year, we ran a story that Sonic Forces Super Sonic DLC was free for a limited time, after the initial release (January 23rd) they would be charging users $1.99 to download the ability to turn into Super Sonic. We rightfully complained about this since Super Sonic has been a free unlockable in Sonic the Hedgehog games since the transformation was introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The idea of turning a long running feature of a franchise into a product didn’t sit well with us and other Sonic the Hedgehog fans.

SEGA Confirms No DLC Planned for Sonic Mania

SonicManiaDLCNoThe Sonic Mania fever is spreading online and now that fans have finished the game they want more. I would assume that this is a good sign, you always want gamers that complete your game to want more. Its the sign of a fun, well put together package. While some Sonic Mania fans have been asking for DLC, Sonic Team’s Takashi Iizuka finally came out and confirmed that there isn’t any plans for it. That’s right, Sonic Mania is leaving the potential of DLC cash on the table to deliver a complete package for only $19.99. While some might say, if they really want to be like the olden days, why not a physical release? I’m there with you. I hope Sonic Mania is successful enough digitally (which it looks like it might be) to get a physical release. I mean if Shovel Knight, Rocket League and other smaller published games can do it, so can SEGA.

As for as Sonic Mania DLC, if it where to happen, what would you want the developers to add? Personally sold on the idea of having a playable Metal Sonic, what about you guys? Let us know in the comments below.

Rumor: Sonic Forces Day One Edition to include costumes from Jet Set Radio, NiGHTS, Monkey Ball and more

portada23686

Via Sonic Paradise comes news (that we’re labeling as rumor for now simply because it has not been officially announced) that Sonic Forces will have a Day One edition featuring avatar costume DLC. The information comes from Amazon.es and XtraLife listings. The avatar accessories consist of wearables from SEGA franchises which include Jet Set Radio, NiGHTS into Dreams, Super Monkey Ball and Puyo-Puyo Tetris. The pre-order notes that there are six items, but only lists four franchises, so my guess is that some franchises have more accessories than others in order to pull off the desired costume. Super Monkey Ball, for example, might just be Aiai’s shirt. The Day One edition also appears to include four postcards with concept art from the game.

DLC from other SEGA franchises is not new to the Sonic series, as Sonic Lost World included NiGHTS DLC when it first released. More info as we hear it!

SEGA reveals Valkyria Revolution free DLC schedule

VAR_Oct282016_07SEGA has now revealed the upcoming Valkyria Revolution free DLC schedule, which will have free DLC coming on launch. TheValkyria Revolution free DLC will start coming out at the end of this month and continue till late July 2017. Unlike Atlus’ timed free DLC content, it seems that Valkyria Revolution free DLC is indeed free, as in free beer. Though looking at the list of DLC that is mean’t to come out, its mostly small additions, like one of the ‘Valkryia Revolution free DLC’ pieces is 30 free ragnite shards every week. Not really blowing anyone’s mind with that sort of DLC, but there is more story based stuff being given away  dealing with the lore of the game’s world.

Valkyria Revolution hits store shelves in America on June 27, Europe on June 30 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PlayStation Vita. Hit the jump to see all the free DLC and when its heading to your console of choice in less than a week!

Why Yakuza’s Kazuma Kiryu should be in Tekken 7

Tekken7KazumaIf you didn’t know, the upcoming Tekken 7 has teased that they would be delivering two guest characters in the next couple of years after the game launches. Back in April, Tekken 7‘s loud mouth game director and producer Katsuhiro ‘Don’t Ask For Shit’ Harada tweeted to ask people suggestions for guest characters, suggestions went from  Goku to Bayonetta. But who was the most requested? Yakuza‘s Kazuma Kiryu was the most fan requested DLC guest character. I never thought about it prior to this tweet but I think Kazuma Kiryu would fit right into Tekken 7 and if anything, would benefit both companies by promoting each others brands.
