SEGA reveals release dates and price for The Cave

Last year, SEGA announced that they’d be teaming up with Double Fine Productions (Psychonauts) and Monkey Island creator Ron Gilbert to publish their latest digital title, The Cave. It’s a platformer with a large cast of characters, one that looks to meld a quirky sense of humor with gorgeously dark art direction. Coming from these developers, it’s definitely one to keep an eye on.

Release dates and prices below;

Playstation Network: January 22nd ($14.99)
Wii U eShop: January 22nd ($14.99)
Xbox LIVE Arcade: January 23rd (1200 MSP)
Steam: January 23rd ($14.99)

Keep it locked to SEGAbits for more on The Cave as it nears its release.

3D Space Harrier soon to hit Japanese Nintendo 3DS eShop?

According to Spong, via Japanese site Gamer via NeoGAF, a 3D rerelease of the original Space Harrier will soon be hitting the Japanese Nintendo 3DS eShop. Nintendo has done a fair share of 3D rereleases for their own games, but this would be SEGA’s first 3D rerelease on the 3DS. Images show that this will indeed be the arcade version, and not the 3D Master System version of the game. No mention of a Western release, but it would probably happen eventually. After the break, two screens of the supposed rerelease.

What happened to the Rhythm Thief and the Emperor’s Treasure demo?

It’s sad watching sales in the UK for Rhythm Thief unfold, the game seems to be a Dreamcast fan’s wet dream. Especially if you were into stuff like Samba De Amigo or Space Channel 5. We can all turn around and blame SEGA for Rhythm Thief‘s lack of success in the UK, but they weren’t even the publisher. Nintendo was in the UK. But in the States, SEGA is set to publish it and they already seem to have forgotten about the title.

Back in March it was confirmed that we were supposed to get a Rhythm Thief and the Emperor’s Treasure demo on April 19th. Yep, that was about four days ago and there still isn’t anything. The game has been delayed until July, so it’s possible that the demo was pushed back as well, though I wish SEGA would confirm that.

Rhythm Thief demo hitting Nintendo eShop on April 19th

If you can’t wait to try this unique and quirky title, well, thats too bad. A demo won’t be hitting the eShop until April 19th. This is too long of a wait for myself. But hey, at least we get a demo.

The game is schduled to come out in North America on March 31st, in Europe on April 5th.
