SEGA announces Wonder Gravity RPG for Smartphones

SEGA Games has announced Wonder Gravity ~The Pino and the Gravity User~ as a 2018 mobile title. SEGA has confirmed that the game will be free-to-play and include microtransactions. The story for the game will be written by Yasuko Kobayashi who has written for Japanese TV shows such as Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Kamen Rider Den-O. The game will focus on you fighting monsters called ‘Debris’ by using the strengths of different gravity fields to attack.

Wonder Gravity ~The Pino and the Gravity User~ story will have you playing in a world without land or ocean, where humans live with Pinos, which are tiny beings created by stars and if you eat their fruit you can become a gravity user. In the game, the main character Hugo receives a message from his long lost father telling him to reach a place called “Endroll”, which happens to be at the bottom of the world and is said to have a mysterious power (very typical JRPG story line). Not too sure what to think of the game myself, it does seem a bit like Sony’s Gravity Rush, no? Maybe its just the name, I guess…

Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation is coming out world wide to a phone near you

20171121_055103
SEGA held a special smartphone game announcement event where they shared some updates on their upcoming free-to-play game Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation, a game being developed by SEGA and produced by Atlus. One of the first cross-over projects between the companies! At the event, SEGA talked a lot about the AR technology within the game that will allow you to summon demons via real life, which is something a lot of developers are looking into after the massive popularity of Pokemon Go. Seems that SEGA doesn’t have a release date for when they will release the Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation AR update. But they did say they will have more to share at a later date.

SEGA has also confirmed that Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation will get a world wide release thanks to fan outcry throughout the globe. SEGA plans to release the game first in Japan, then Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Who knows when the English version will be set to launch, but when we get a date we will keep you posted here.

Check out the game’s AR technology in motion and a look at some five-star demons after the break!

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 remastered joins the SEGA Forever lineup – Happy Sonic 2sday!

Happy Sonic 2sday! The beloved sequel to SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog turns 25 years old today. This version of the game is excellent, we even named it our favorite SEGA game of 2013, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is so beloved that it made the top of our Top 100 SEGA Games list. So if you haven’t tried it yet, now is the perfect time to do so!

SEGA teases “new sensation camera RPG” game for mobile phones

SEGARPGMobile
SEGA is really busy with teases this week, yesterday they teased ‘Valkyria Project’, now a “new sensation camera RPG” mobile game. SEGA launched the teaser website here, according to the teaser site “In 20XX, as a result of never before seen technology, manking has an encounter with the unknown…” After that you get a animation of a smartphone taking photographs of real life objects and people, which turn into illustrations.

It really seems that this will be SEGA’s take on mobile games that use camera as a gameplay function. We saw the popularity with Pokemon Go‘s use of AR via the phone’s camera. The url is even ‘Pashamon‘, which sound very much like Pokemon and even features this cute one eyed creature. I really hope its not a Pokemon Go clone… I really do.

This mobile teased project will be revealed on November 17 at 12:00 JST!

SEGA Forever adds ESWAT: City Under Siege to the lineup

ESWATCUS_title

Another SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive classic has been added to the SEGA Forever free-to-play smart device gaming lineup. Based on the System 16 arcade game Cyber Police ESWAT, ESWAT: City Under Siege is a rather faithful arcade port. A run n’ gun, ESWAT stars a police officer (given the name Duke Oda in Japanese versions) who makes his way through the crime-ridden Liberty City, taking down lawbreakers. Promoted to the police department’s top unit, the ESWAT (Enhanced Special Weapons and Tactics), Oda is given a powerful exoskeleton and is tasked with taking down the super computer E.Y.E.

A little SEGA trivia: Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle started development under the working title of D-SWAT were the D stood for Dragon, making it sort of a sequel/spin-off to the ESWAT series. It later became its own thing, but an interesting factoid.

SEGA Forever loses its head and adds Decap Attack to the mobile lineup

Screen Shot 2017-10-25 at 9.24.14 AM

The latest SEGA Forever title has been revealed, releasing later today, and it is none other than the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive classic Decap Attack. A westernized version of the Japanese Mega Drive game Magical Hat no Buttobi Tabo! Daibōken, Decap Attack is arguably the better game if only because it stars a decapitated mummy named Chuck D. Head. As with previous SAEGA Forever titles, they are available on smart devices and are free-to-play. Expect Decap Attack to roll out later today!

Sonic Forces: Speed Battle behind the scenes video showcases game’s development

SEGA Europe has released a development video showing a behind the scenes look at the upcoming mobile tie-in to Sonic Forces, titled Sonic Forces: Speed Battle. Developed by Hardlight Studios, creators of the Sonic Dash games, Sonic Forces: Speed Battle is an online multiplayer version of their endless runner and takes place in Sonic Forces settings. Interestingly, the game was initially tested using a multiplayer version of Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom. The game is currently soft launched in select territories, but a wide release should be happening soon.

Beyond Oasis joins the SEGA Forever mobile lineup

Screen Shot 2017-10-11 at 9.30.34 AM

The SEGA Forever lineup expands today as the classic SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive action RPG Beyond Oasis (The Story of Thor: A Successor of the Light in Europe) becomes the latest free-to-play mobile release. Developed by Ancient, with music by Yuzo Koshiro and released in 1994, Beyond Oasis stars Prince Ali in his quest for the Gold Armlet to save Oasis. Beyond Oasis is best played with the six-button pad, and SEGA has not forgotten this as a six-button arrangement is how the mobile port is played. Players can also utilize a rewind feature, which jumps back 15 seconds (at the cost of watching an ad).

Beyond Oasis will release to the App Store and Google Play store later this afternoon.

SEGA developed Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation gameplay

SEGA showed off their joint mobile project with Atlus (SEGA is developing, Atlus is writing it) called Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation. In the mobile game you play a protagonist that joins a group who call themselves “Liberators”, a secret organization that protects the world. The game features turn base battles, demon fusions and demon negotiations, just like past Atlus Shin Megami Tensei titles.

SEGA has also posted up a application for the Android version which will give you the latest game information, campaign news, videos, and more about Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation. SEGA promises that a ‘Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Info‘ app will be launching on iOS soon. It seems that SEGA is really making a big deal about this project and thinks it will be a huge success. What is your vibe from watching 11 minutes of gameplay (from the video above)?

Sonic Forces: Speed Battle revealed for mobile devices

Untitled-3

Various Sonic fans on Twitter have discovered a new iOS (and possibly Android) Sonic the Hedgehog game titled Sonic Forces: Speed BattleAccording to the App Store listing, the game has players racing against other players from around the world in real-time four-player races. Weapons play a role in the game, and playable characters include Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Vector and more. From the look of things, the game is very much an online multiplayer version of Sonic Dash set in Sonic Forces locations. Eagle eyed fans might notice that a Sky Sanctuary looking stage appears in the mobile game, perhaps meaning we will see the stage return in Sonic Forces?

After the break, check out the app store description and screenshots.

SEGA showing off Tokyo Game Show 2017 lineup

TGS2017LineUp
SEGA has launched their Tokyo Game Show 2017 website, showing off what games will be playable, only shown in video and which games will have press conferences. Not all SEGA games at Tokyo Game Show 2017 will be playable, sadly. So, lets get to it and see what we will see more of later this month.

  • Fist of the North Star – (Stage show, photo spot, trailers and gameplay videos)
  • Yakuza Kiwami 2 – (Playable, stage show, trailers, playable footage, merchandise, and photo spots)
  • A Certain Magical Virtual-On – (Playable, stage show, trailers and merchandise)
  • Hatsune Miku Project DIVA Future Tone DX – (Playable, trailers and merchandise)
  • Sonic Forces – (Playable, stage show, trailers, and merchandise)
  • Phantasy Star Online 2 – (Playable, trailers, stage show, merchandise, and photo spot)
  • Yakuza Online – (Trailers)
  • Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation – (Playable, Stage Show and Trailers)

Translation is a bit iffy, but it seems that the stage shows will be streamed online from what I gather. We shall keep you updated on that via our twitter and on this blog. We will be having a writer at Tokyo Game Show, so expect a SEGA News Bits video and write up discussing some of these playable games.

Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation mobile game announced

ShinMobileYou can basically ignore the post below this about a possible SEGA crossover game, like the teaser posted earlier today lead me to believe. Weekly Fmatisu has revealed that the game it was actually teasing is Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation for smartphones. The game will be developed by SEGA which will have two conflicting organizations with the Liberators and Acolytes.

I guess the SEGA in the title of the teaser meant that SEGA was developing a mobile game for a Atlus franchise? While Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation might appeal to Japanese audience, I really wished this was something more console or even PC related. What do you guys think? Was Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation the type of game you’d want to play?

SEGA bringing a Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition mobile game to China

001SEGA is teaming up with 91Act (developers behind the excellent BlazBlue: Revolution Reburning mobile game) to bring a new Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition mobile game that will launch in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Don’t live in the great People’s Republic of China or other minor places that aren’t as great as the People’s Republic of China? Too bad, hombre, you ain’t getting mobile anime action (at least right now).

The game has a tentative title of Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition Mobile Edition, which is obviously fitting. If you happen to live in China, the game will debut at ChinaJoy 2017 which is held from July 27 all the way to July 30th at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (what happen to the old one?).

If your pea brain forgot all about Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition, it was a 2D fighting game that came out on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita which crossed over some SEGA properties with anime like Sword Art Online, Durarara!!!, and many more. Sadly we only got the vanilla version of the game released in the West and we probably won’t get Ignition ever, but knowing SEGA we will probably get this mobile version later on. Who can say no to that mobile money?
