SEGA of Japan has announced two streams for January 24th, one for FreshLive and another for NicoNico. The streams will be about three games, the upcoming Sonic Mania, and the recently released Valkyria Revolution and Yakuza 6 in Japan. Both the FreshLive and NicoNico streams will be live on January 24th at 8:55pm local time, or about 6:55am EST/3:55am PST. If you have interest in any of these titles, please have a gander, especially for potential new information about Sonic Mania.

The Persona 5 prequel anime special, Persona5 the Animation – The Day Breakers, has aired in Japan and it’s available to watch on Crunchyroll right now. A Blu-Ray and DVD release is scheduled for December 7th in Japan.

On top of that, I also have more information on Persona 5’s showing at Tokyo Game Show 2016 and a live event scheduled for July 2017 after the jump!

CEDEC 2016 highlights the technology behind Yakuza 6’s special effects

Yakuza6

Yakuza 6 is the latest installment in the Yakuza franchise for the PS4, set for a December 8th, 2016 release in Japan. However while you’re waiting for another trip into the brutal life of a yakuza member, we’re given a behind the scenes look as to how several special effects are handled courtesy of the CEDEC (Computer Entertainment Developers Conference) 2016 stream on NicoNico. These videos highlight specific effects throughout Yakuza 6, including how water is rendered and handles floating objects, how the game renders clouds, and the “dust particle” effects during combat.

The emphasis on water in particular makes sense, since one of the major locations in the game takes place in a real-world town called Onomichi in Hiroshima, which is a fishing town, and it does look impressive all things considered.

Atlus to feature NicoNico stream for Persona 5 on June 15th

person5stream

Persona 5 is shaping up to live up to the hype, but for those that are still not sold on the game, a NicoNico stream tied to E3 will be hosted called “Uncover the Phantom Thieves” that will provide more details on Persona 5. What this stream will feature is unknown, but will feature the reveal of a “classified video” and general new information. The stream will be live on June 15th at 5:00 a.m. PT / 8:00 a.m. ET / 21:00 JST.

To actually view the stream, you’ll need a NicoNico account in order to access the general website. Be warned as the website is in Japanese, so navigate with caution. When information drops on the game, anything new will be reported. Persona 5 itself will be released on Playstation 4 in Japan on September 15th and February 14th for American regions. A release in PAL regions is unknown as of this writing, not helped by the relatively recent SEGA buyout complicating releases of Atlus titles in European countries.
