SEGA’s Alan Pritchard “Aliens: Colonial Marines is still on”, 3DS News, Other Stuff…

Alan Pritchard, SEGA West’s VP of marketing and Sales, had a interview with Game Informer in the latest issue. One of the questions asked was if Aliens: Colonial Marines was still coming out. The short answer? Yes.

“Colonial Marines . We’ve been working closely with Gearbox behind the scenes, and we’ll be able to tell

Pritchard also discussed SEGA’s plans for the 3DS over the next financial and calendar year. In addition to confirming Super Monkey Ball as a 3DS launch title, he discussed plans for old and original IPs:

“We have a number of 3DS titles in our line-up for next financial and calendar year. There’s four or five existing franchises, one or two from the old Sega IP locker, and we’re looking at one or two new IPs as well.

It should be noted that in the same interview, Pritchard also mentioned that at least three Sonic titles will be revealed next year. Perhaps Sonic will be one of those existing IPs.

You can read the rest of the interview from the scans below. Its actually a good interview and he is pretty honest.

Shenmue City goes live today

That is right, Shenmue City is now up to play. The only issue is that the mobile version is the only one available. Meaning if you (like myself) are waiting for the PC version, you will have to wait. That version is still in development, no release date given.

But all is not lost, you can download wallpapers (like the one above) to celebrate the launch. Sure, not as cool as getting Shenmue 3. But bear with us! I hope this means we will get some gameplay footage online.

Shenmue City update shows returning shops

[Flowers? Do you guys sale anything useful?]

Shenmue City website has been updated with a flash thing, that has scrolling city shops. If you put your mouse over the shop, you get a picture of the owner, see Nozomi up above.

It also seems the game will exclusive shops or at least shop owners. Tell me what new stuff you guys find. Also confirmed via twitter is that the game is in the last stages of development.  All I can say is, needs more Tom’s Hot Dogs.

Steam Sale: Alpha Protocol for $7.50!

Steam is known for having insane sales, so its no surprise they are starting up one of those “I have to get this game, its so cheap” sales. How can you pass up a full RPG for $7.50?

If you haven’t read our PS3 review, we did say it had some issues, but to be honest, it is well worth it at this insane price. If you have a capable PC, give it a go. Be warn, it has a slow start.

Total War: Shogun 2 box art revealed

Above is the final box art for the upcoming Total War: Shogun 2, featuring a darker looking box art compared to the other games in the series. Doesn’t the logo remind you of the Yakuza logo?

The game is scheduled to invade our computers on March 15, 2010. Now you just decide if you want your digital or retail copy.

The next Sakura Wars title announced

[Logo is the only thing shown so far]

So you have been waiting for the next Sakura  Wars game for a long time and this day has finally come. You ask yourself what console the title will be  on? Well, it won’t be on consoles, the next Sakura Wars game will be ‘browser based’. You can now comment to complain.

The game will be designed by Red Entertainment (Sakura Wars series, right?), Trinity Game Studio (Fist of the North Star Online) is developing and Rocworks (Kingdom Road and Homage Genesis) will manage the game when it goes online. Sure, not as good as a Playstation 3 or 360 game, but you don’t have to worry about importing… right?

As for release date and all that stuff, we will have more information in the upcoming months. If its like the Battlefield Heroes, like actual 3-D and not Mafia Wars cheap-o stuff, it might be good.

SEGA Mega Drive Classic Collection – Volume 1 & 2

Relive old memories and create new ones – the SEGA Mega Drive Classic Collection, volumes one and two now available.

A new trailer for ‘Mega Drive Classics Collection’ available on PC. While I enjoy these games and could do with picking up Galaxy Force 2… Most of these have been done to death now.

Yu Suzuki & Segata Sanshiro to fully unveil Shenmue City

The guys over at Sunsoft have scheduled a ‘proper unveiling’ for Shenmue City, the upcoming social game. The press conference will be at the UDX Theater in Akihabara, where people will be introduced tot he game. The event will be attended by Yu Suzuki, founder of YS.Net and main person behind the Shenmue series. Also invited to the event was Hiroshi Fujioka, who played Segata Sanshiro and for the Japanese version of Shenmue voiced Iwao Hazuki (Ryo’s father).

The higher ups at SEGA, Sunsoft and DeNA (the company that manages Mobagetown platform) will be at the event. Sadly its only for press, so some random fan can’t walk in and scream they want Shenmue 3 for a proper console.

The press conference will be on Monday, you can catch the live stream here from 15:30 to 17:15. Enjoy!

Shogun 2: Total War coming out this March

If you are one of those guys that owns a variety of Samurai swords, then you have probably been waiting for a sequel for Shogun: Total War since the original came out in June 2000. Well, now you only have to wait till March 15th, 2011. That is the global release date for the latest installment.

SEGA is using really awesome hype words like “enhanced full 3D battles” to describe the game. This is stuff that you can copyright and slap it on the cover of a game or you can just slap “bonerific gameplay” . Either way, pretty awesome.

Phantasy Star Online:Blue Burst Ends in Japan. However…

After 6 years, the Japanese Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst servers are going down for the last time. This isn’t just the end of PSO:BB this marks the end of a decade of Phantasy Star Online. The Japanese PSO:BB server was the last, official running server in the legacy of Phantasy Star Online, truly the end of an era.

Here is how the last few months of PSO:BB will play out;
-November 29: Hunters License sales and usage of all special access codes halted.
-November 30 – December 27: Free access to the game servers. December 14
-December 27: Special bonuses applied (rare drops x10, rare enemies x5, EXP x2).
-December 27: Servers go offline at 4:00p.m. JST.

Sad news indeed, but every cloud has a silver lining! In this case, Phantasy Star Online 2!

Posted by EspioKaos of PSOWorld, their resident translator of Japanese,
But fear not, you enduring Hunters of Ragol! In that same announcement, SonicTeam mentions that they are in discussions to grant access to a
Phantasy Star Online 2 “user participation test” (among other things) to Japanese PSOBB subscribers at a later time. No further details are known at the moment, but stay tuned. We’ll be posting more information as it surfaces!

So if you want to beta test Phantasy Star Online 2, I suggest signing up to the Japanese PSO:BB for its final swan song.

Shogun 2 – Story Trailer

This game is simply beautiful, if you have yet to check out the Total War series, you are a fool! Do yourself a favour, jump in now.

Shogun 2: Total War boasts a possible 52 thousand units on screen at once. All fighting it out under your command, or that of your enemy. This would be an impressive feet alone, but look at these graphics, particle effects and motion capture battles. You’ll see why Total War has just no competition when it comes to historical RTS games.

Now if only they would make new IPs with fantasy and even sci-fi settings using the Total War engine, they could mop the floor with the competition there too.

Football Manager 2011 – Demo and Trailer

Above is the official trailer for Football Manager 2011. I can’t say it is my favorite trailer I’ve seen for this series. But I think it is a good idea to go with trailers that are less about the game itself and more about the passion behind the sport. That said I have no passion for football at all.

If FM2011 is relevant to your interests, then you can now download and play the demo:

The Football Manager 2011 Demo is available to download today, free and exclusively in association with Mirror Football. Click the link below to download from Steam and follow the onscreen instructions to install. You will need a Steam account to download, but signing up is free.
