Retro-Bit postpones pre-orders for all-new Toaplan Genesis/Mega-Drive game reprint collection over licensing issues

In a rare moment in which Retro-Bit bit off more than they could chew, they have announced that they will need to postpone pre-orders for their recently announced Toaplan Shooters Vol. 2 Collectors Cartridge set, which was originally meant to run all throughout November 2024. This was a collector’s set compiling official cartridge reprints of Genesis/Mega-Drive Toaplan classics Twin Cobra (1991)Slap Fight MD (1993), and Grind Stormer (1994). Unfortunately, their licensor, Tatsujin, seems to have noticed an unspecified snag with one of the games in that collection, preventing pre-orders from continuing until further notice.

To anyone who has already pre-ordered this set or any of the individual games, your pre-order seems like it will still be honored. However, if you do want to have your money refunded to you, Retro-Bit recommends you take it up with whichever online retailer you pre-ordered from. We hope you ordered from an understanding outlet. Retro-Bit cannot share any more information than this at the moment, so for now, we’ll all just need to show some patience.

Were you planning on pre-ordering the Toaplan Shooters Vol. 2 Collector’s Cartridge set? Are you seeking a refund now? Let us know in the comments below.

Yakuza Kiwami digital pre-orders nets you free theme

Theme_1_1499447461If you are planning on picking up the digital version of Yakuza Kiwami, you might want to look at pre-ordering it for $29.99/£29.99 if you care about PlayStation 4 themes. If you pre-order the game right now you will get a Yakuza Kiwami digital pre-order theme that features both Kazuma Kiryu and Akira Nishikiyama.

I personally recommend all users get the day one steel book edition of Yakuza Kiwami, since its the same price as the digital and you get a cool limited edition case. But, if you are the type of person that hates having physical games, having a cool free theme is a nice extra. Yakuza Kiwami comes out on August 29, 2017; only on PlayStation 4.

Shenmue III PC pre-orders open on December 15, new footage soon

Shenmue3While most of us hardcore Shenmue III fans already put up our money when Yu Suzuki launched his Kickstarter, it seems there are quite a few people demanding for the studio to put up pre-orders for the game. Yu Suzuki stated in the latest Famitsu magazine that Shenmue III PC pre-orders will open up in a few days.

“Development is entering the final stage headed towards full-scale production. Early in the new year, I think we’ll be able to show you things such as new videos.

“We will continue progressing with development so that our backers and those who experience the world of Shenmue for the first time can do so with pleasure.

“Also, at noon on December 15, we will start pre-order sales for the PC version of Shenmue III, which received a lot of requests. Those interested in Shenmue III, please check the official website.”

It is interesting considering that the studio hasn’t really put out much Shenmue III in-game footage. What they have shown has never been finalized. It seems that the work on Shenmue III is barely starting, if they are barely entering full-scale production, do you think the studio should be putting up pre-orders without actual in-game screenshots? Let us know in the comments below.

Pre-order Sonic Colors, get creepy Sonic hat

Gamestop is holding some of that ‘exclusive pre-order’ stuff with Sonic Colors, unlike most of their crappy DLC exclusives; this one is a physical item. A creepy Sonic hat, to wear when you have your furry orgies.

I’m sure deep down inside SEGA knows that 90% of the Sonic fanbase is odd furry people and they will love this. But, I have to admit, its nice seeing a ‘physical’ free object for pre-order. You can pre-order the game on their site and it will ship with the hat.
