Sonic the Hedgehog Monopoly available now!

What does Sonic, The Simpsons, the Chicago Bulls, Heinz tomato ketchup and John Wayne all have in common? They all have their own Monopoly games. While we’ve known of Sonic Monopoly for quite a while, it wasn’t until just this weekend that the game has become available to purchase online, and in the coming weeks the game will start to arrive on store shelves. The game can be found on a number of toy and game sites, as well as Amazon, for $39.99. I’ve bought myself one and expect to receive it tomorrow, so stay tuned to SEGAbits for an unboxing and review of the game.

Official Sonic Monopoly board revealed

Via the USAopoly Facebook page comes the finished board for the upcoming Sonic Monopoly game. Just standing back and looking at it, it’s a really great looking board! Graphics look nice, a ton of zones and stages are represented. And unlike the Nintendo Monopoly game, thought has been put into the properties. Seriously, the Nintendo Monopoly was garbage compared to this beauty. Players bought characters like property and built houses on them. How does that work? Gives a whole new meaning to Hotel Mario. After the break, a full listing of the properties.

Sonic Monopoly gets officially announced

We knew this was coming, USAopoly had a listing for it awhile back. Now it is official via USAopoly’s facebook, which announced Sonic Monopoly this morning. So what do we know about this board game beside that it’s a Sonic themed Monopoly game? Nothing much sadly. All we have is the picture above and the quote below.

“Here is a sneak peek at a few Sonic The Hedgehog titles speeding their way to retail shelves in the near future, also be on the lookout for a new Sonic puzzle as well!”

Yeah, there is also going to be a puzzle game based on the Sonic the Hedgehog IP. Not that its as exciting to fans as a monopoly game. If you don’t have the money for it, you can check out BarryTheNomad’s free print out Sonic Monopoly project here.
