So I found a book lying in the loft about McDonald’s Collectibles and found a couple pages in there about the Sonic set of toys made in 1994 to promote Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and there is a few interesting bits of info in it along with scans. Above is the American promo art for it and below is the British one.
I have these – 'cept for Tails. I lost him pretty quick.
Remember when Happy Meals (and cereals, for this matter) had awesome toys?
There was also Mario toys that were also excellent.
I have Knuckles from this collection… Which is strange because I've never eaten at Mc Donalds, I guess someone gave it to me at some point.
Oh yeah, the Mario ones were pretty cool. I recall my Grandma had the Goomba (no idea why she had it) and I was jealous and really wanted it. lol
I was in college when Sonic 3 came out so this isn't really that nostalgic for me. The tails one is hilarious though.
I still have these all except I never had Eggman. And I no longer have the second pieces to the Sonic or Tails ones.
This brings back memories.
I know I still have the sonic one for sure somewhere.
I have all of these except for Tails, but I remember being amazed by that. They had to get rid of the model early in because a kid died from swallowing it or something.
I had Knuckles and I think Sonic. No idea where those went, lol. I wish I still had them.
I remember begging my mom to take me to get a happy meal just for that. We rarely ate out so it was a big treat to get something like that.
Looks better than the recent Sonic toys at McDonalds, that is for sure.
I do think Sonic looks much cooler with his green eyes, though, I don't know what people are bitching about, lol.
