SEGA’s social games coming to Facebook

Nikkei has reported that SEGA will be launching their ‘Play SEGA!’ brand across both Facebook and hi5 Networks.

SEGA promises to start the expansion by launching “Sega Play! Baseball” by the end of the month on Facebook. The same game will launch sometime in March on hi5. SEGA is set to be the first major Japanese developer to deliver content on hi5. When the game launches, it will be free to play with pay for items.

I for one support this, starting your own social game site is fine, but not having them in the #1 biggest social site around is just stupid.

  1. Oooh! Shenmue Gai next, please! I never play Facebook games, but I'll make an exception for this. Shame I can't use my Play SEGA! controller with these games.

    Shenmue Gai, please!

It's important to note that "PlaySEGA" has nothing to do with "SEGA Play!" that they are introducing to hi5.

Well this could be the launch pad for the YAKUZA social game, (which would make sense because Sega is desperate to make that a proper world franchise rather than a regional one.)but i think it would be a good oppurtunity to use this to reintroduce older sega characters as well as build up a new audience of sega devotees via the social networks. maybe Sega Bits will have some sort of clan when they(sega play) open up their particular games that everyone would actually want to join.
