Sonic Generations: Two Sonics Trailer

The new trailer for Sonic generations is titled ‘Two Sonics’ and is suppose to show off the fact that the game will have retro 2D gameplay with modern 3D sonic. Not only that it shows off the new tails models and even classic Robotnik.

Also unveiled in the trailer is Rooftop Run from Sonic Unleashed and Seaside Hill from Sonic Heroes. Feels good, man. Though I rather have Emerald Coast than Seaside Hill.

  1. Looks really damn good! Seaside Hill looks 100X better than the original, and Rooftop Run is much improved. That final shot = oh shit!

  2. LH_The_Hedgehog says:

Wait… that’s not classic Robotnik. That’s Classic Death Egg from Sonic 2.

  3. radrappy says:

    looking good

  4. darkshortyx says:

Seaside Hill will be alot better now since you just play as sonic. Well I mean, it’ll be fun, fast, and maybe a bit frustrating depending on good difficulty. This game is going to be the best. I just hope they do some kind of birthday special pack like they did 10 years ago.

  5. Crazytails says:

I agree with fluffy on everything… weirdly enough

  6. Dr. Facepalm says:

Anyone who sees Seaside Hill as just a GHZ clone is a fucking idiot. It’s more ruins than a hill, and more white than green for christ’s sake. Especially this Generations version. They’ve done a great job at making it diverse and unique, even WITH GHZ there.

    Haters gonna hate.

    @Chaosmaster8753
    I asked him that too

  8. unknown says:

I hate that song. I hope it’s not the theme. Plus it doesn’t have to do with anything. if it is the theme that’s gonna be the first game that theme didn’t fit with the theme.

  9. cube_b3 says:

For half a decade Sonic is trying to be a throwback can you blame them.

I think we can see Speed Highway at 0:23.

  10. Shigs says:

Sorry cube, that’s Chemical Plant Zone.

There are screens out of Mushroom Hill on 3DS.

  11. -nSega54- says:

I assume they’re using Seaside Hill because it’s the only stage in Sonic Heroes that was even remotely good.

  12. -nSega54- says:

SA2 being “terrible” is not something a majority of the fanbase agrees with.

And yeah hopefully we see more than just “first stages.” Agreed. They probably picked them because the first stages are often some of the more memorable and iconic from each game. Just how it works.

  13. Trippled says:

I don’t see how the Controls for SA2 were bad, they are better than most 3D Sonic games, Camera was fixed most of the time too. But yeah I agree for the most part.

  14. cube_b3 says:

So how do you explain the Death Egg at the end of the trailer if they haven’t played beyond the first stage.

Sonic Adventure 2 had many stages that were paying homage to the old stages, like the space levels, like the Egypt/Pyramid levels. The only thing new it had was the harbor and streets of California.

So we got the Streets of California, I prefer it over Golden Gate Bridge and the Harbor.

Imagine if you will, it’s Christmas morning… The young child of the house bounds down stairs to see if Father Christmas has come this year, he/she find the Christmas try laden with presents! Excitement! the parents drag themselves out of bed at 6AM on their day off to watch the kid excitedly ripping into his presents.

The child gets a number of nice things; new toys, videogames, books, Dune on dvd… A fantastic haul by anyone’s standards but what he/she was really hoping for, the present which he/she had spent the past 6 months pestering their parents for is absent… But what’s this, the parents were hiding a gift behind the couch, a final hurrah. It’s big and when you shake it it sounds just like a laptop! The child wastes no time ripping into the present.

It is! It’s a lap top… It’s go everything, the latest graphics card, Wifi, 3G, huge screen. It is everything anyone could have asked for in a laptop…

BUT WAIT, It’s green and not black? When the keys are pressed they don’t make the same clicking sound as his mothers old lap top and to top it off the on off switch is PINK! Oh my god, this is a fucking disaster… Who the fuck would want this piece of shit?! Christmas is fucking ruined, the kid spends the rest of the day crying and playing with the box it came in.

Spoilt little shit right? Stay classic Sonic fans!

@ Fluff Master: Check out the GagaMan review of SA2 I’ve posted he takes in the perspective of classic and modern fans, something you are ignoring.

But people are starting to agree with you, the 1st stage pattern is blatantly obvious. Sonic Heroes 1st stage simply shouldn’t have been in the game that is an atrocity as it was basically trying to be a modern green hill zone.

The only reason Chemical Plant Zone exists is cause most people won’t be able to differentiate it with GHZ.

  17. -nSega54- says:

“SA2 assaults its players with atrociously bad music, terrible voice acting, a stupid awful story, shitty new characters, mediocre gameplay with subpar camera and controls, long loading times, and the very fact that only 1/3 of the game’s stages involve the hedgehogs – the other 2/3 are boring and not worth playing, but you’re FORCED to play through them anyway. Not even the graphics and animation were great for its era – just compare it to Ratchet and Clank, a platformer released just about a year later. Sonic characters look all jerky compared to the smoother motions of Ratchet’s animation loops. The game makes Sonic Team of that time seem totally incompetent when held up to their peers. (Rightfully so.)”

Sonic Adventure 2’s visuals were excellent for a Dreamcast game and it was widely praised as such. The shooting segments were not boring, and were significantly more exciting than the other characters in SA1. With the exception of the Knuckles stages, I don’t think there was anything “awful” about SA2. The visuals, the cutscenes, the voice acting, the Chao raising, the camera, the load times (long load times? what?!?!?!? They were shorter than SA1’s!) it was all improved from Sonic Adventure 1 to an almost insane extent.

I’m sorry your friends didn’t like it, lol, but mine all did, and most of the Sonic fan community did as well.

  18. Dr. Facepalm says:

The funny thing is that Rooftop Run isn’t Unleashed’s first stage, Chemical Plant Zone isn’t Sonic 2’s first stage, Planet Wisp isn’t Colors’ first stage, and Crisis City isn’t 06’s first stage.

Also, I never argued that Seaside Hill wasn’t based on GHZ, because it was. Even so, it is VERY different, even with the similarities and nods to the tropical hill trope. It’s more of a white ruin, as I said. You’d be an idiot to say “This is just GHZ2”, unlike if you said that about Sonic 4’s Splash Hill Zone.
