Valkyria Chronicles 3: Extra Edition looking more likely

As we recently reported, rumors are swirling about a Valkyria Chronicles-related announcement at the upcoming TGS due to a small tease on SEGA’s website. Well, from the looks of it, the secret may have been spoiled a little early. Japanese retailer Game Star has listed a Valkyria Chronicles: Extra Edition for a November 23rd release date, making it look incredibly likely that a budget-priced Valkyria Chronicles 3 is indeed on the way to Japanese PSPs.

While Western gamers may gain some hope from the idea that SEGA is not yet done with Valkyria Chronicles 3, no North American or European release has thusfar been announced for the title. Time will tell if that remains true for Extra Edition.

Update: It is now being reported that SEGA will be re-releasing….the re-release of Valkyria Chronicles 2 as well, now for an even lower price of 1,890 yen. According to the same retailer, both these low-priced versions will be released on November 23rd.

    I have finished valkyria chronicles 2 but never played the original. Nonetheless, valkyria chronicles 2 has been one of the best gaming experiences I had in 2011. I think this became more clear when I actually finished the game and looked back at all the battles (some VERY challenging) i’ve had. It felt really accomplished when I finished the game.

    I hoped for a western release anouncment, sigh. Hopefully there will be

    I’m so great at guessing everything, I should get a metallic blue SEGA metal.

    lol you thought it was going to be on the Playstation Vita.

  4. George says:

    I can download it from the PSN store on my vita. I still win.

    Must suck losing!

    VC1 was a zillion time better than VC2 … you must play it!

  6. Yeah, VC2 was a letdown by comparison–I never finished it. VC1 is very good.

    I loved Valkyria Chronicles 2 just as much as the original. I liked how there were more side-quests involving your squad mates this time around. Plus, as Crazytails said it was quite challenging but very satisfying once you completed it.

    Thanks for the recomendation. I was planning to buy it but don’t have a ps3 in my house. Gave it to my lil bro at my parents’s. Next holiday I might give it a run over there.

    If it’s even better I can imagine it being worth it

    VC2 was full of repetitive boring grinding missions … and this is only one of many issues in that game.

    Still hope we will see an English release of VC3.

    VC1 vs. VC2 – Can’t reconstruct why VC1 is so much better for some people as both are incredible fantastic to me. Still can’t get enough of the soundtrack.

    Played VC2 for 170 hours and loved it so much. Can’t praise it enough. I finished VC2 before I started VC1 and it took me a while to adjust, as the game play felt slightly clunky and slow compared to VC2. You might also be tempted to abuse the save/load function (especially for the DLC) while in VC2 you had to rethink and adjust your strategy. VC2 was definitely the better (strategy) game play experience as VC1 had a more beautiful (and heartbreaking) story.

    Can’t confirm that. 🙂
    In my experience, it is all about the right strategy which makes it so fantastic. It’s about planning, thinking and readjusting. I never had the feeling I needed to grind. Finished the hardest DLC without maxed stats.

    @Suzuki,

    I think ure kind of exagurating that theres a lot of things wrong about valkyria 2. It may not be on par with the first but take this from someone who got into the series from 2, it’s still a great game. The grinding was mainly anoying in the part where you had to collect the credits to promote the classes. The latter bothered me too because it was so random and especially when you only needed one credit for a character it could get tedious getting that one credit.

    @Suzuki Yu

    I didn’t find the bonus missions boring at all, quite the opposite.

  14. Sharky says:

    Cosmic Castaway continues to like everything ever. =D

    Anyway, interesting news… It would be nice if they would bring VC3 west now…
