SEGA delays Anarchy Reigns to July 2012

Following hot on the heels of Konami’s recent announcement that Platinum Games would be taking over the development of the next Metal Gear game, we now have information on a delay for the studio’s other project, Anarchy Reigns.

The beat-em-up, which had already been delayed until January, has been pushed further back to July. The semi-sequel to MadWorld will now release on July 3 in North America, and on the 5th and 6th in Australia and Europe, respectively. SEGA West’s Gary Knight has said that the delay will be to increase the scale of the game, teasing that 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 fighters will become “a thing of the past.”

No word yet on whether Anarchy Reigns will be seeing a similar delay in Japan.

    *sigh*….

I really hope this isn’t a sign that the game is caught in development. I have been really looking forward to it ever since it was announced.

Seems like any other platinum game from SEGA will be unlikely in the next year. Ah well we have enough things to look forward to in 2012.

The game looked rough, I hope they improve upon it and present an appealing product after the delay.

This game should have probably had some kind of whacky art direction like madworld… Maybe instead of black and white extremely colourful cell shaded like Jet Set Radio.

Something to make it stand out becuase I think no matter how many times they delay it it’s just not going to sell.

They should probably put Sam Gidion, Bayonetta and even see if they can get Raiden and Shinobi in there… Every little would help now!

I agree with this. There is no excuse for not having every Bayonetta-Vanquish character in this game.

Rodin, Burns, Balder, heck even toss Luka into it.

Can you imagine if Crystal-Viper was playable?

I think this shows Sega doesn’t think the game will sell well here. July, summer is essentially the death slot for a Sega release, Not many Sega games sell well in that period. They expect ALIENS COLONIAL MARINES,BINARY DOMAIN,and YAKUZA DS to sell big which is why they all being released just before the end of march which is the end of sega’s financial year. Sad sad cause as AR has potential but if Sega isn’t behind it totally it won’t do well.
