Here it goes again! The controversial Sonic 4 is back again for another shot at classic sonic gameplay, Sonic 4 Episode 2 was officially announced today by Ken Balough on Gamespot. Check out the teaser trailer above.

Ken seemed really excited to announce Episode 2 you could see it all over his face, but why? Well Sonic 4 Episode 2 will boast new physics, new graphics and everyone’s favourite two tailed fox Tails!

Now, when talking about changes Ken specifically mentioned that Sonic will no longer stick to walls or ‘uncurl’ as he leaves ramps. Those of course were real problems with Sonic 4 Episode 1. What he didn’t mention but what is by far my biggest gripe with the game is this; when I take my finger off of the forward button is Sonic going to suddenly stop dead in the air? I honestly felt that was the biggest problem with Sonic 4 Episode 1 and that will be the make or break of Episode 2.

What personally I don’t care about at all but would probably go a long way would be a classic model for Sonic and the option to turn on and off the homing attack, maybe for classic Sonic it could be an item in one of those TV screens so he can still get though the level. Just a suggestion!

Ken announced Episode 2 for PSN, XBLA, Windows Phones, iOS and Android devices.

This game will probably not be made by Dimps. I read an interview with the president of Dimps and he said that Dimps wants start to create ips.

Btw, i do not know if someone is interested, but this guy(from Dimps) is also the creator of Street Fighter, King of Fighters and the most part of the SNK FG. He is a legend.

  2. CrazyTails says:

I really hope DIMPS isn’t so much involved in the level design. Their level design have been awful ever since sonic advance 2. They’re simply just not good at it

  3. DCGX says:

I tried the demo to Episode 1 again last night because of the Xbox Live sale, but after playing Generations, I could barely get through the first level of Episode 1. Man I hope they fix those problems.

That said, I’m really excited to see SEGA support Android more!

I definitely think the character model should be the same as Episode 1. That’s Sonic 4’s Sonic, it should stay that way.

As far as the homing attack, it should be better-implemented so that you never *have* to use it, but it should stay in there, again, because it’s already been done and cool new things can be done with it.

  5. Shigs says:

Anyone else notice that no Nintendo platforms were announced for it?

  6. Barry the Nomad says:

I’m in the positive camp, excited to hear the announcement and improvements!

Uncurling was one of my pet peeves, so glad it’s fixed. Hope that carries over to Episode 1, because really, it should. It would not be game breaking to go back and change it. In fact, it would make the homing attack less mandatory.

Now how long do you think we have to wait for a gameplay trailer?

  9. nuckles87 says:

I’d love it if they finally went with a hand drawn style. Aint gonna happen, but I can dream.

    *minor nitpicky mode*

“return of a villain” We’ve seen Metal Sonic a lot lately, how is that a big deal?

    *end*
