Do you like new games? Do you like your Dreamcast? Then it’s most likely that you want a new game for your old Dreamcast. How about Redux: Dark Matter? It’s a arcade space side scrolling shooter? It’s true that the Dreamcast indie scene has released mostly these types of games, but they are pretty fun.
Sadly if you want Redux: Dark Matters to come to Dreamcast you will have to put in some cash. The developer started a kickstarter page for the project which will allow you to grab a limited edition (limited to 1,000) of Redux: Dark Waters and Dux 1.5. Think of it as a bonus for believing in the project. Above is a video showing the game in alpha stages. Game is being developed by René Hellwig from NG:DEV.TEAM (GunLord, Fast Striker, Last Hope and DUX) and KTX Software (The Haunted: Hells Reach, Gem’X iOS).

I guess we know why DUX 1.5 has been taking so long. I’d like to support this, and I never have for a kickstarter, but I’m on the fence.
Though it’s really a great show of how much the Dreamcast meant to people that it’s still receiving games, honestly, I’m baffled as to why anyone would put games on the DC when they can find a potentially far larger audience on services like XBLA and PSN…and this is coming from someone who hates digital, lol.
I dunno. I’m not sure what to think of people spending money to create and release Dreamcast games.
Yo, digital hatin’ bozo, did’ja read the kickstarter page?
“The required devkits to release on STEAM, XBLA and PSN are costly – so we are offering an exclusive Sega Dreamcast version of Redux: Dark Matters to fund the development for these additional platforms. We want to bring Redux to as many people as possible. Pledging your support directly makes this a reality!”
Yup, this will get a release digitally for other platforms. I caved and pledged $65. For both games, I’m happy to do that. The amount is already over a fifth to the $25,000 so hopefully that trend will continue and this will get made. Not just for the DC release, but for all the platforms.
Cool DCGX! I did the same! Went for the $65 option.
I also didn’t originally notice, but these prices also cover shipping costs. Not bad.
Yeah, that was my deciding factor. Typically a SE would cost about that price before shipping. Play-Asia has lower shipping costs than European distributors, but this will never be seen on there, so it’s a deal.

Hmmmmm. Nah, I didn’t click the link. Well, knowing that, it’s an interesting strategy. Hopefully it all works out then.
Well I do Like the music. I’m not so shmup excited anymore
I was tempted by a universal arcade stick, however since I’m not a dot com millionaire I went for the $100 option- unlike most scrolling shooters, this soundtrack has an almost ecco the dolphin quality.
I’ve ripped the tracks from the ecco mega cd disc onto my itunes, great for getting asleep.
Halfway there already!
I really do love the Dreamcast and I’d really like to support this project, but I don’t feel like paying for some pink mixture of 80% R-Type and 20% other shmups. The music isn’t very good either.
