Combined with the fact that Yakuza 0 is due out just next month, we think it is safe to say that Yakuza is back, baby! On this SEGA News Bits, George and Barry react to the news and share their thoughts on both the past and the future of the series. New to Yakuza? No comments? Dang. This is my favorite game series ever! I just finished Y5 the other day, and started working my way through Kenzan (actually not that bad to do, I just have the translated youtube vids playing on my phone as I work my way through the actual game).
Y2 is my favorite entry in the series as well, and I’d also love for a Kiwami 2 next. However, with all these mainline entries recently, the creators could easily get burnt out and half-ass it. So… maybe they do another spin-off first before K2, idk.
The Y6 sales are a disappointment right now too, so they’re going to really have to start considering these for Steam release sooner rather than later if they want the series to keep going. Especially with Kiryu leaving the story going forward, there’s going to be another drop-off of fans for newer mainline entries.
