Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World hitting Western PS4 & Switch May 28, PC on June 29

It looks like the Monster World IV remake, Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World, is set to launch both physically and digitally on PS4 and Nintendo Switch on May 28th in the West (North America, Europe and Australia). PC gamers will have to wait until June 29th to get their hands on it.

The game is set to retail for $39.99, which seems a bit high considering Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake of Wonder Boy III launched for half the price.

“Immerse yourself in a fully remastered Wonder Boy adventure that stays true to its roots as the latest part of the legendary and successful series, that dates back to 1986.

While the story remains true to the original game, it’s a full remake of Monster World IV, with cell-shaded 3D graphics and 2D gameplay that stays close to the beloved original gameplay as well as enhanced visuals and refined play content. Especially in the event scenes the performance is deepened and the world view is reproduced vividly and colorful. Plus for the first time in the series, it comes with a character voice—by the popular and talented Japanese voice actress Ai Fairouz.

The fully remastered version of Wonder Boy IV is led by none other than its creator, Ryuichi Nishizawa. Additionally, he is supported by Shinichi Sakamoto for new and improved music and sound effects, Maki Oozora for character design and Takanori Kurihara as creative manager to create a worthy remake and new entry to the iconic series.”

Yet again, Xbox left out again, surely with the massive rise and success of the Xbox Game Pass service, it can’t possibly be because of a fear of a loss on investment.

These games relies on limited physical releases for profit and unlike Sony and Nintendo, Microsoft isn’t allowing them to do limited physical Xbox releases. That’s why these publisher tended to skip XBox.

I think he meant why are they not doing it digitally, releasing digital onlyncontent would be cheaper for companies because they don’t have to spend as much money on pressing cover mounted disks to store the game data on, printing instruction manuals in several different languages and designing box art and in-lays etc.

I don’t think the price is all that expensive, considering this is a much bigger remake and the game is also a lot longer than Dragon’s Trap, which I finished in about 3 hours because I was already so familiar with the Master System version. It also had very, VERY few extra areas (and all of them were short secret areas which only served to get a few trophies). I got all of its trophies in about 4 or 5 hours only. Monster World IV is a lot longer than Dragon’s Trap. For a physical version, I think the pricing is about right.
