Final pre-order run of Analogue Mega SG coming on Oct. 28th

In a brand new announcement from Analogue, the creators of FPGA consoles like the Mega SG and the Analogue Pocket, their last ever pre-order run of the Mega SG will take place on October 28th. After this, there will be no more. This will also be your last chance to order a Super NT from Analogue, which is their FPGA Super Nintendo clone. Both will be available for $199, excluding shipping, and will ship in “Q4 2023”.

In case you don’t know or you forgot, the Analogue Mega SG is Analogue’s FPGA clone of the Sega Genesis/Mega-Drive system, which originally launched in 2019. It can play your Sega Genesis game cartridges, using original Sega Genesis controllers, and can even connect to an original Sega CD/Mega-CD add-on and run CD games. It also comes with it’s own adaptor for Sega Master System game cartridges included for free, but there are also extra adaptors for SG-1000, Mark III, Sega Card, and Game Gear games sold separately. The main takeaway is that the Mega SG is the most feature rich Genesis clone console ever developed and the most accurate to original hardware so far. It can run all of your Sega games in full 1080p over HDMI and has lots of options for power users to tune the audio and video to their liking. The same goes for all of Analogue’s other clone consoles. As a special bonus, the previously unreleased game Ultracore, from Dice, who are known today for the Battlefield series, is included as a free built-in game with all Mega SG systems. If you get the Analogue DAC, which allows you to connect any Analogue console to an old pre-HDMI TV, you can even get a 32X running on your Mega SG. If you can afford them, Analogue’s consoles are one of the best ways to experience retro gaming on a modern TV or monitor.

If you’re interested in either a Mega SG or a Super NT, you may want to prepare to get one now or risk having to pay much more for one second hand, whenever they pop up. Either way, on behalf of Segabits, I wish you good luck obtaining one. If you need a reminder of when they’re back in stock, you can sign up for email notifications from the online Analogue store. The extra Mega SG cartridge adaptors are also still available, along with the 2.4 Ghz M30 controllers from 8bitdo, though this is not the only place where you can buy these controllers.
