So what does SEGA think about Yakuza 3 sales?

SEGA’s community manager has spoken out about Yakuza 3’s sales in the west and it isn’t negative.

“So, while I’m not able to give you any numbers, I can at least still confirm that the initial sales were really positive, and that all of the fans who jumped in to support the franchise in the west did a great job.”  –RubyEclipse, Community Manager

I guess its OK to ask and cry for Yakuza 4 and Black Leopard? C’mon SEGA, you know we are going to start whining, just bring them over.

Neptune screenshots are released

Neptune, a game being developed by Compile Hearts and being published by SEGA, is going to take ‘console wars’ to another level. The game will be an RPG, to read more information click here.

As for the screens, the graphics are very PS2 like, not that it is a bad thing. Just expected better. I hope the game is fun and there is a English release. I can dream, right?

Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Force coming to XBLA

VOOT on XBLA was a big seller, after everyone saw the news of their blog closing and announcing a profit, then a short time after a countdown to a new game for Xbox 360; we all sort of put the pieces together.

This game will have 2 vs. 2 player battles, offline 4 player split screen support and over a dozen mechs to choose from (including Temjin).

The Famitsu scan is on top, SEGA’s countdown clock is still going however.

First Alpha Protocol review comes in

The first review is in, from Spanish magazine PlayMania (issue 127). The review is that the game is great, scoring a 88 out of a hundred.

Graphics -> 80 – The exteriors are not so bad but the models and their animations are far from perfect.
Sound -> 90 – Appropriate soundtrack.
Diversity -> 89 – Even though it’s the same game, there are many possibilities when it comes to customizing your character and deciding how to play.
Duration -> 90 – The replayability factor is really high. You can play Alpha Protocol a lot of times without experiencing the same adventure.

Overall -> 88 – A spy role playing game that succeeds in blending action with stealth and gives players a high degree of freedom in choosing how they want to proceed.

Game comes out on June 1st in America, you can pre-order it on Amazon [360 PS3PC] and save yourself a few bucks.

3D Dot Game Heroes can do Master System

Made by IGN’s Retro devision. 3D Dot Game Heroes is a throw back to retro titles with a weird, cube like graphical effects (3D pixels, if you will). The game has recently been released in the west by Atlus, on the Playstation 3.

Good to see that retro, especially 8-bit focused, get some SEGA love. Usually Nintendo hogs up all the spot light.

If you own the game, you can import IGN’s Master System characters (Opa-Opa and Mick), download here.

Border Break action figure looks awesome

The above is a Border Break action figure (NOT A TOY!) that is coming out on July 24th. The toy will be exclusive to Kotobukiya Shop online store and retail shops. (retail shops if you live in Japan)

The action figure will run you at 3,675 yen ($40 USD), that is a small price to pay to have a plastic toy of a game you will probably never play. Unless SEGA is nice and ports it over to consoles.

Sonic 4: Episode 1 to run at 1080p

If you buy them on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 of course. This is backed up by both product pages on PSN and XBLA.

No idea of this is native resolution or upscaled. I have decided to drop SEGA an e-mail and wait like a rabid dog all weekend for a response.  I hope the answer is yes.

SEGA-Sammy earnings report

Here we go, I usually dread these things because I have to post how much money SEGA loses, but this time around I get to talk about how much money they earned. So put your spandex pants on and get ready.

SEGA-Sammy’s fiscal year ends on March 31st, 2010.  The company, as a whole, saw a 10.4% drop in sales to ¥384,679, but saw a 399% increase in operating income to ¥36,712 million.
