Reminder – Guardian Heroes is up on XBLA Today!

One of the best side scrolling games of all time has finally landed on XBLA, Guardian Heroes is a side scrolling beat’em’up with RPG elements made by the sprite masters of the 90’s, Treasure!

Guardian Heroes on XBLA has been given a HD makeover with new magic effects and online multiplayer. Best of all it will only cost you 800 Microsoft points whilst a mint condition copy of the game for Sega Saturn could set you back over $100 dollars!

It’s a freaking steal and having had it since I woke up this morning I can safely say it’s well worth the price of admission! So go on, treat yourself to a great game. Not to mention if enough interest is shown in the game Sega/Treasure has said they would like to make a sequel! DO IT!

Valkyria Chronicles III isn’t being localized

I’m one of those people who fell in love with the Valkyria Chronicles video games and highly enjoyed the second entry to the franchise, even though it was on the PSP and not on the PS3.

So what about the 3rd game in the franchise? According to SEGA’s Hiroshi Seno, they have no plans on bringing the 3rd game over to the Western market. Why? Due to Valkyria Chronicles II selling poorly. I think part of the reason the second game did poorly was due to it jumping platforms, especially to a platform that is dying outside of Japan (the PSP).

Hey SEGA, if you have no plans on bringing it over, let someone like Atlus USA or NIS America bring it over. Thanks.

Sonic Generations: Modern era rival revealed to be Silver

A new batch of pictures recently released showcases Sonic the Hedgehog’s rival from the modern era, and he’s none other than Silver the Hedgehog. The character’s first appearence was in the critical and commercial failure Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 and is seen to be in the single stage that has been brought back to represent that title, Crisis City.

It is interesting to note that of the bosses and rivals revealed so far, Silver is the only one thus far without a unique boss arena for him to battle in. It is also another boss battle that would require you to control modern Sonic. Click after the break to check out the rest of the images.

Like skating!? Like Sonic?! Looks like SEGA has the event for you.

Venice Beach, CA (one of the coolest places ever) is going to be hosting Sonic Generations Of Skate, an event which will feature 3 generations of pro skaters (including Tony Hawk and Steve Caballero) as they compete for prizes in vert-style competitions. Said to take place throughout what SEGA’s calling “a Sonic-themed day,” attendees will have the opportunity to play Sonic Generations, as well as the chance to, of course, skate, both in open skating sessions as well as in Skate Clinics, where those who sign up will have the opportunity to gain skating tips from various experts. You can order your tickets either for the open skate sessions or the Skate Clinics here, though space is limited and tickets are going fast.

“ASA is always trying to develop events with unique formats and fresh concepts that bring something new to the table— both for the skaters and the crowd. SEGA really understood that mentality and is a tremendous partner for this event. They have such a great history of setting trends in their own industry, as proven by Sonic the Hedgehog reaching his 20th anniversary this year.”

-Rick Bratman, CEO of ASA Entertainment.

Sonic Generations of Skate is set to take place on Saturday October 22nd. Don’t live in Cali? You’ll have the opportunity to catch the event on Fox Sports Network Friday, November 25th.

SEGA outsourcing Aliens: Colonial Marines’ level design to Timegate Studios?

According to a job advertisement listed at Gameasutra (now taken down), suggest that SEGA and Gearbox Software are outsourcing the level design of Aliens: Colonial Marines to Timesgate Studios. They are known for their work on the Section 8: Prejudiced.

The advertisement that TimeGate put up stated that they are “looking to expand its team of ultimate badasses working on Aliens: Colonial Marines,” specifically wanted people for level design and user interface.

Back in June, Pitchford talked about the studio looking for development partners for the the game. He suggested some of them put some great ideas on the table. Should be interesting to see, Timegate Studios have improved and their game Section 8: Prejudice was recieved rather well by critics. I see this as a positive.

Steam registry outs Sonic Generation bundle

For those people that didn’t know, Steam stores application data that includes a list of every game that has ever appeared (and will soon appear) in Steam. Even if you don’t own it.

Not only does Sonic Generation have a registry, but so does a pre-order for a bundle, which seems to include every Sonic game available on Steam. Though seems that the original version will include a free copy of Sonic The Hedgehog (Genesis).

To add to the flame, according to Sonic Stadium, the SEGA blog listed the PC version in a post and quickly edited their post.

Renegade Ops makes PSN best selling titles for September

Renegade Ops came out on September 13th and already made the list of the top 20 selling PSN titles for the month. The bad part? It came in #17 and was outsold by some older software.

Renegade Ops has gotten pretty good scores and we here at SEGAbits loved it. SEGA has stated that if the game sells well, there will be more games in the series.

SEGA’s girly golf game for Vita gets leaked early

SEGA is apparently working on a girly golf game for Vita called “@Field”. The game was leaked by Amazon.co.jp.

The game isn’t all about mini golfing, it will also combine pinball elements into the game. The girls in the games aren’t really girls, they are called dolls. You will be able to customize them, to dress them the way you want.

There will be a mission mode that promises over 100 missions. Rewards for clearing missions include costumes and new fields to play with. There is an edit mode where you can make your own fields and share them with friends via ad-hoc mode or wifi. Sadly is unclear right now if there is online play, we will probably get this info when the game is formally announced.

@Field is coming out this Winter in Japan, priced at ¥3,990. No Western announcements has been made (duh), it doesn’t seem like a title that would be brought over though.
