Sonic Colours Multiplayer hands on

Here is a video showing off the brand new multiplayer game play in Sonic Colours for the Wii. You will unlock multiplayer levels as you collect hidden red rings in the single player zones.

Multiplayer is a Co-op affair with where you use wisp powers to help each other get though the level. There is also a hint of competitiveness to keep things exciting.

I personally hope they also bring back a VS racing mode like in the classics or Sonic Adventure 2:Battle.

SEGAbits hitting the 1.0 with remixed look

Welcome to SEGAbits 1.0, nothing much has really changed. We obviously have a lighter background and a new feature bar, that is a lot easier to update. That is good for the writers! We moved the login box to the top, to allow us to have more stuff on the right side of the blog (which we will be adding later).

Sorry for the downtime, I hope you enjoy the new look. Tell us what you think.

Conduit 2 won’t be released this year

Conduit 2 has been delayed to the first quarter of 2011. When the game does come out though, it will support the classic controller and classic controller pro, if you aren’t into the whole motion controller thing.

We already know that High Voltage Studios has fired some of its staff and the remaining people are working on this game, seems that they fired them too soon and could have used those helping hands!

SEGAbits Monthly August 2010 issue

Alright, so I sort of intended to do this monthly but I was on vacation for the July issue. I apologize. So here is August’s round up of stories. Sadly, this month is a bit shallow with orginal content, we are going to deliver tons of original stuff for the September round up.

Sonic Colors Multiplayer Revealed

Not long ago, Amazon.jp leaked the above screenshot on their website. Many speculated that the screenshot was proof of some sort of co-operative multiplayer mode.

Well, turns out those speculations where right! SEGA recently stopped by IGN’s offices to drop off the latest build of Sonic Colors, and the new co-op mode was the highlight.

According to IGN, the two players control “Sonic Robots”, which are put through a simulation built by Eggman. The co-op mode is unlocked by those red medallions that we’ve been seeing in the level videos. While there is a limited amount of competition between the two players, there will also be many instances where they will need to work together, such as combining two different wisp powers to overcome an obstacle.

IGN also noted that the co-op mode could be rather difficult, in contrast to the easier levels we’ve seen in the demos so far.

No word on whether or not the mode will go online, but given the Wii’s track record with online co-op I doubt it.

Yakuza 4 Box Art Revealed!

Pretty damn good right? While Yakuza 1 and 2 had pretty good box art, Sega got a lot of flack for the rather cheap looking Yakuza 3 cover art.

However rejoice, Yakuza 4 has one a very striking and suitable box art, in fact I would go as far as to say it is the best Western cover art for the series so far.

Note the subliminal messages all over the cover promoting ‘sexy girls’ and sex in general, nice!

Sonic 4 Lost Labyrinth trailer

So, what can we complain about this time? He runs… too fast? No, his shoes are the wrong red! He should be left handed!

But in all seriousness, personally I think this game is looking very, very good. Are people going to find things to complain about? Of course they will. But I’m seeing 2D game play, I’m seeing just Sonic playable, badniks, zones, platforming, no voice acting, no bad scripts, no shitty pop music. So, my personal biggest complaints have been delt with.

Will it have its faults? I guarantee it! Will it be the closest thing to classic Sonic we have seen in 15 odd years? I’m betting on yes.

Also If I’m not mistaken, this seems to be a newer build of the game. The Sonic model looks slightly different, moves slightly different. But I’ll let our forum members do the analyzing.

Vanquish story trailer

This awesome new story trailer for Vanquish has got me right pumped!

To be quite honest I haven’t really been looking forward to the story of Vanquish I suspected it might be a bit of a throw away story to help set up the mad situations the main character may find himself in. Like Bayonetta. I’m in love with the game play in demo though.

However now, after this frankly very cool trailer, I’m excited for both. Bring on Vanquish!

Shogun 2 Total War – Battle Report #1

Jesus, the graphics in this game are amazing and this is only pre-alpha footage. Check out the first Battle Report for Shogun: Total War. You have 6 and a half minutes of pure gameplay bliss.

Looks like Creative Assembly has another winner on their hands. Now if only they would try doing another ‘action game’ that has as impressive graphics as this game….

VANQUISH Demo: 360 vs. PS3 build

The boys over at Digital Foundry have their hands full again, this time they sat down to judge the VANQUISH demo that came out the other day. They have confirmed this is ‘early code’ demo. .

“The key difference seems to be that the Xbox 360 goes for a conventional capped 30FPS, double-buffer approach (losing v-sync when dropping under the target frame-rate in order to maintain fluidity) whereas the PS3 game employs triple-buffering, effectively ensuring that there is not a single torn frame any time during the gameplay experience.”

Both versions run at 1024×720, with 2x multi-sampling anti-aliasing. They also say that the Xbox 360 version felt easier to control. I guess this is a personal preference since users on NeoGAF have reported the opposite.

Seems that the game will run great on both consoles, so breath easy my friends!

Yakuza 4 announcement trailer

Here is the Yakuza 4 announcement trailer, a bit late, since it was announced awhile back. Regardless, its coming out Spring 2011, for those of you who want to skip to the end.

I noticed that in the Western trailers, SEGA is afraid to let the characters talk, because they assume all Americans are afraid of Japanese speak. Well, we are, thank you SEGA.

Dengeki Playstation to have Valkyria Chronicles bonus book

Next issue of Dengeki Playstation promises a bonus Valkyria Chronicles booklet. Could this be SEGA already starting their advertising tanks for the next installment of their awesome franchise?

Not to mention this is on the Playstation version of their magazine, basically securing it for either PSP or PS3. I hope it comes out on PS3.

New SEGA Japan teaser site – code1935.jp

SEGA Japan has just launched a new teaser site for an upcoming game that will be revealed on September 16th. Just in time for the Tokyo Game Show! The URL for the teaser site is http://code1935.jp.

SEGA Japan recently registered valkyria3.jp as a domain name not too long ago. Also, 1935 is the year of the original Valkyria Chronicles game. I think it is pretty safe to assume this game is going to be Valkyria Chronicles 3!

SEGA’s TGS 2010 line-up confirmed

SEGA has let their ‘official’ line up out of the bag, of course, they have a surprise or two they don’t want to reveal yet. This is their ‘expect to be there’ and playable games.

  • Vanquish (PS3/360)
  • Virtual On Force (360)
  • Sonic Colors (Wii/DS)
  • Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity (PSP)
  • Black Panther New Yakuza  Chapter (PSP)
  • Shining Hearts (PSP)
  • K-On After School Live (PSP)

Of course they will most likely have a new Phantasy Star related product (anniversary game?) and for sure the new Yakuza PS3 game.
