My Life with SEGA both loves and fears Alien: Isolation for Playstation 3

On the latest episode of My Life with SEGA, rather than stepping back in time, we’re going to check out the newest title from SEGA and The Creative AssemblyAlien: Isolation. Developed in-house and released last week to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC, Alien: Isolation takes a different approach when it comes to what players have come to expect from Alien franchise video games. For starters, it’s not a first person shooter! Instead, The Creative Assembly have cooked up a first person survival horror game that is very much in line with the tone of the original Alien film directed by Ridley Scott. How does SEGA’s latest Alien outing fare? Check out the video to find out!

Alien Isolation: Accolades Trailer

Hey look, an almost brand new trailer for Alien: Isolation! I say ‘almost‘ because all of the gameplay footage in this trailer is recycled from the E3 trailer. However now it has some choice quotes spliced in between the scenes from various trusted critics, for good measure.

Any Alien fan will be pleased to hear that Isolation has been nominated for over 40 E3 awards! And if you are at all excited for Alien: Isolation the trailer is worth a watch, even if it’s mostly old footage… Mostly.

The Creative Assembly’s up and coming Alien game listed for future consoles

It seems that the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 is not the only console that the Creative Assembly’s Alien game is coming to. According to a recent job listing in which the developer is looking for a multiplayer/gameplay programmer to help create “a AAA multi-platform title on current and future generation consoles set in the Alien universe” This implication of future consoles could mean the successor to the Xbox 360/Playstation 3 or as implied elsewhere, perhaps closer to being made available on the Wii U. SEGA’s other Aliens title, Aliens: Colonial Marines, is also being produced for the Nintendo Wii U so to have a version of the Creative Assembly’s Alien title would not be out of the ordinary.

Sega Teases Aliens Colonial Marines – With Burnt Doll Head!

Sega’s no stranger to funky marketing, be it severed limbs turning up all over London for the promotion of MadWorld or Condemned 2’s ‘Pony Heart Quest’. Now they are sending doll heads in the mail to unsuspecting videogame journalists.

Any avid Aliens fan will know who Newt is, but for those of you who are lesser beings I shall explain. Newt, aka Rebecca Jorden, is the only survivor of the LV-426 Alien outbreak (Aliens). She was only a little girl and she survived by living deep in the vents of the colony. She also carried a doll’s head known as ‘Casey’.

When Newt is taken by the Aliens, Casey is lost but it turns out Joystiq have recently found her again, in the mail!

SEGA Brisbane working on a new game

SEGA Brisbane, formerly Creative Assembly Australia, has revealed that they are indeed working on a new game and that ever since the critically panned Stormrise, the team has been invested in heavily for higher standards. Speaking during an interview, SEGA Vice-President of Production Gary Dunn said;

“Suffice to say since Stormrise’s completion, the studio down under has been heavily invested in, entirely new leadership team from the likes of EA, Ubisoft… the people who made Stormrise aren’t the people who populate, at least the leadership, that studio. There’s a new set of standards in place, they’re doing a very different game”

But the interview itself is a fairly long and details more than just one branch of Creative Assembly and goes on to talk about the new Alien title and how the team wanted to work on it soon after completing Viking. Well worth a read for anyone who are interested in either title. To read the full interview, click on the link below.

Creative Assembly’s secret game revealed to be Alien

From announcing political policy to now making announcements for video games, the Coalition Government of the UK has revealed that SEGA’s British based developer, the Creative Assembly, is developing a game based on the Alien franchise by 20th Century Fox. Though a genre is yet to be announced, the above image confirms that it will be a console game and will be developed by a new team from the Creative Assembly. At a press conference held today, the developer revealed that it hopes to bloster its team in Horsham, West Sussex from 160 to 200 within the year. It has also been revealed the Alien title will not be present at this year’s E3 either.
