I love arcade racing games and no one does them better then SEGA. So it is good to see a inforgraphic, from the good people at Liberty Games, released detailing all the fun and crazy SEGA arcade games that have been huge hits for the company. So what are you waiting for? Hit the jump to see the image!
This isn’t the first time that SEGA Japan (which seems to be the one doing the testing) has teased their Hatsune Miku games to American audiences. This last E3, they had Hatsune Miku Project Diva f for display at Sony’s booth. Sadly the game never was localized.
Seems this time around that SEGA is testing to see if there is an interest in Hatsune MikuProject DIVA Arcade, which is being tested right now through March 18th in the Puente Hills Mall. The game has an online pass fee thing, which you get free for doing a survey. It costs four credits to play.
http://youtu.be/cbmCCjDC67c Ikaruga is probably one of my favorite shoot ’em ups during the Dreamcast era, created originally for the SEGA NAOMI board. This little bugger has seen its fair share of ports, including the Gamecube, Xbox 360 and now Android powered devices. How much are they charging for this masterpiece? $9.
So head over to the Play Store and pluck down some money and if you haven’t played it, do so please.
Here is a new trailer for SEGA’s long running D Stage arcade game. There has only been one of these arcade titles that have made it to current generation systems and that title only came out in Japan. So don’t expect to play this outside of arcades (which might be Japan only as well). Though, if you like teasing yourself, hit the jump for gameplay.
SEGA’s long running manga adapted racing game, Initial D will be releasing the 7th version of the game next month. So to celebrate the countdown, here is a new trailer to a game we will probably never play over here in the States. Enjoy.
Above is an artist rendering of the arcade cabinet for SEGA’s new typhoon game, Dream Raiders. I know most of you where thinking this hopefully had something to do with NiGHTS into Dreams, but it doesn’t. Sorry.
The game is set to give players a ‘sense of speed’ by mimicking wind effects in real time as you play. This sort of thing is usually referred to as 4D, so this would be a 4D game. Though I doubt SEGA wants to use it to market it, seeing how most people find 3D to be a gimmick (which it mostly is). The game is running on RingWide arcade board. This is usually used for less graphically powered games. Hit the jump to see screenshots of the game! If you want to see video, SEGA is holding it hostage till they get 100 likes on the game’s Facebook page.
From the Tokyo Game Show comes a crazy bit of crossover news. While showing off the iOS Border Break game, Gun Front Gale, and the arcade game Border Break Union (version 3.0 of the game), SEGA announced that a number of Yakuza characters will cameo in the arcade version of the game. It seems, however, that it has yet to be revealed just how the characters will be worked in. Only illustrations and the promise of cameos were revealed. As for version 3.0, 10 player co-op will be possible and the game will hit Japanese arcades on October 11th. Click here for more photos from the event.
Another week and another video for My Life with SEGA posted on the SEGAbits YouTube channel. This week Die Hard Arcade is up for review.
“In this ‘classic’ episode, I review Die Hard Arcade (a.k.a. Dynamite Deka) for the SEGA Saturn. As a bonus, I manage to critique the cross-platform hit, Die Hard Trilogy….
Now, which one’s gonna’ find out what a TV dinner feels like?”

SEGA is getting set to start testing their long time racing series Initial D, this one titled Initial D Arcade Stage 7 AA X. Some people think this is a SEGA franchise but it is actually a licensed game based on the manga by Shuichi Shigeno.
Even though some of the titles in the franchise have made it over to America, I wouldn’t hold my breath for this one only because of all the cut backs at SEGA. But if you live in Japan you will be able to test the game next month in select locations. The Japanese game page for the title does give details on new things including a new tag mode, revival courses from Initial D Arcade Stage Ver. 3, a new boost and more.
If you didn’t watch the American adaptation of the horror movies known as the Ring franchise (sequels had different names etc), then you probably don’t know that it’s about people finding a tape, watching it, then dying. VCR no less. A ghost haunts those that watch the tape, and throughout the movie you find out more and more about the girl ghost. Even though the franchise is dead in the States, it isn’t in Japan. They are getting set to release Sadako 3Dand SEGA is ready to team up to create a ride.
SEGA’s ride will be based on the upcoming film and be called Sadako 3D: Cursed Tour. It is set to open on July 14th. It is rumored that there is a video of someone who commits suicide and that viewers will ‘follow the leader’ if they watch the tape. A bit morbid if you ask me, especially knowing that Japan has such high suicide rates. SEGA says that Sadako 3D: Cursed Tour is going to be a seven-minute test of courage. You want to experince the morbid ride? You will have to go to SEGA’s Joypolis in Japan.
This new flashy arcade unit by SEGA is their latest rhythm dancing game called maimai. It features a round screen with lights around it, and when the game tells you to hit a certain spot in the circle, you do it. Pretty simple, till they speed it up.
Also the cabinet has a camera that allows users to record themselves playing a session and upload it to the popular Japanese video site Nico Nico Douga. SEGA states in the interview that this rhythm game is supposed to allow people be more social. Yes, they know it looks like a washing machine. The arcade is set to hit Japan in July of 2012. The video also confirms that SEGA is planning a Western release. Yeah, that was unexpected.
Now you can sit your kids around your Xbox 360, purchase Shinobi (arcade edition) for 200 MS Points and scare them as you scream at the television because you lost at the same part 20 times in a row. Hey, at least you didn’t spend too much money.
In all seriousness if you can’t wait for Shinobi 3DS, this sale might hold you off until the game gets released. Shinobi 3DS hits Europe on November 11th and America on the 15th.
You may remember a good while ago now we reported that Sega was making games that- well, you pee on. The ‘console’ is pretty much a modified urinal, the controller? Your stream!
Sega does what Nintendon’t!
Toirettsu is essentially a mini-games collection, with an alternative control method where wee-waggling is not just accepted but encouraged! Remind you of anything?
In one example the harder you pee the stronger the wind which blows causing an onscreen reporters skirt to lift. Who are the target audience? Potentially every man that ever needed to pee! So forget the ‘Nintendo Wii’ Sega have put their own stamp on casual gaming market which I am dubbing the ‘Sega Wee’.
There is method in the madness; the more pee you get into the urinal the longer you can play which is a good way to deter drunks from peeing elsewhere, such as the floor- or on their shoes. You may laugh but I honestly think it is a brilliant idea, genius in fact. This could pave the way for a whole new era for urination! I honestly wouldn’t expect this kind of thing from any other videogame developer. Sega are like the mad scientists of the industry, sometimes it pays off and other times it fails miserably but I think this time they are onto a winner!
As the game is being rolled out in more and more public places in Japan we have some game play videos directly from Sega and yes- it’s as wacky as it sounds! You can see more videos below.
One of the best side scrolling games of all time has finally landed on XBLA, Guardian Heroes is a side scrolling beat’em’up with RPG elements made by the sprite masters of the 90’s, Treasure!
Guardian Heroes on XBLA has been given a HD makeover with new magic effects and online multiplayer. Best of all it will only cost you 800 Microsoft points whilst a mint condition copy of the game for Sega Saturn could set you back over $100 dollars!
It’s a freaking steal and having had it since I woke up this morning I can safely say it’s well worth the price of admission! So go on, treat yourself to a great game. Not to mention if enough interest is shown in the game Sega/Treasure has said they would like to make a sequel! DO IT!
Still exclusive to SEGA’s Japanese arcades, this current trailer for Shining Force Cross Raid continues to show the improvements AM2 is hoping to bring in the way of new bosses that range from a giant black dragon to a large clunky robot. They also hint at a new area and costume items the players will be able to collect to further customise their characters. The trailer shows plenty of battling and platforming that the Shining Force Cross titles have come to be known for.
