Initial D Stage 6 announced (not shocked)

Another Initial D game has been announced, this time its Initial D Stage 6. You guys keeping track?

I actually don’t know much information on this game, so I will say it will be an upgrade to part 5. Isn’t it great? I hope they have the real life size cars for it as a cabinet. Would rock.

Shining Force Cross: Raid announced

SEGA is beefing up their line up for JAMMA this year, they started it off by announcing 3 new titles. This one is one of those titles. Its a ‘expansion’ version of Shining Force Cross, only this one adds another word to the title. Raid!

This title is going to have more levels, more weapons, more items and new characters to play as. We won’t get to play it, so I guess it doesn’t matter.

New MushiKing trailer

I’m not even going to pretend to understand what’s happening here. It seems to be a new version of Sega’s hit kids Arcade game ‘MushiKing’. The cabinet has dual touch screens and a card reader.

If anyone has any further information about this game drop us some info in the comments below!

Edit; An interesting find by our forum member Suzuki Yu; at around the 6:30 mark on this video it shows some of the new arenas, 3 of which are straight out of Virtua Fighter 5. Good old Sega!

Transformers Arcade Trailer

Here is the first trailer for both of Sega’s new Transformers Arcade games. The games are quite obviously geared towards a much younger audience.

Like many of Sega’s recent Arcade games this one requires you to collect real world playing cards with transformers on them then you can scan them into the game and use the transformer on the card. It appears that the same cards work on both machines.

One game is seems to be a simple onrail shooter where you play as your selected autobot and then shoot down other transformers. The other is a racer, I’m less clear on what this one involves but you seem to have to switch between your ‘car’ mode and ‘robot’ mode to chase down other transformers.

Pengos back!

Who remembers Pengo in the arcades? Probably not many of us as it was released way back in 1982. But it seems Sega are giving us another chance to catch Pengo in Arcades… Yep it’s coming back on Segas RingWide arcade hardware.

This time with a multiplayer vs. mode, it looks pretty fun too… A bit like Bomberman. Who said Sega don’t remember their classics huh!?

BB.TV Vol.010 Border Break action!

Boy I haven’t wanted to play an Arcade game THIS much in years and I love Arcade games. Here’s another BB.TV episode to tease us poor fools in the west and show us exactly what were missing.

It’s like Team Fortress on crack, with robots.  WANT!

SEGA launches new arcade in Yoyogi, Japan

SEGA has launched a new arcade palace in Yoyogi, Japan. This new arcade building will have 134 machines spanning across 690 square meters of space. Now if only I knew what a meter was…

They will have the latest games like AM2’s Border Break and Project Diva Arcade. The location is next to a train station, ensuring that business men will walk in to use the restroom and will be unable to resist a singing game featuring underage girls. They love that stuff.

Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown Location Tests Underway!

SEGA has begun location testing Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown cabinets, and videos have been surfacing on Youtube and Nicovideo. Check out the great Taka-Arashi vs Jacky match above! You can see some new gameplay additions as well as costumes and items (it took me a while to realise it was actually Jacky in the gold!).

Sega has also announced that the game will utilise Twitter in an arcade gaming first!

Hit the jump for some more info, vids as well as some notes on the location tests.

SEGA bringing GRID to arcades

Code Master’s GRID was a hit on consoles back in 2008 and had high acclaim. Now SEGA will help bring the game to arcades. The game sits in the SEGA Racing Classic cabinet. But what will the arcade version feature? In test locations it featured quick race for both mutliplayer and single player; also ‘championship mode’ that had 3 tiers.

The game will feature a ton of licenses cars; like Dodge Viper, Saleen S7, Aston Martin DB9, Bugatti Veyron, Pagani Zonda, and Jaguar XKR. Real world locations of San Francisco, Washington and much more.

The game will feature damage, but will not effect how the car handles, so crash up your cars just to see them break!

Sega Private Show 2010 (Arcade Heroes)

“Every year Sega Japan holds a “private” summer show where they give select persons a view of some of the new content that they are bringing to arcades later that year. But it’s only private in the sense of it being who gets an invitation as every year sources reveal the content from that event. The most recent show took place on Saturday and we now have a look at a few new arcade products in development although it is likely that they will not get any official support internationally.”

This year Sega were showing off,
Sangokushi Taisen – A new game in the hit series
Sega Card Gen MLB 2010 – A brand new baseball game
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown – The latest version of VF5
World Club Championship Football Intercontinental Clubs 2009-2010
Heat Up Hockey – Virtual air hockey puck and board for more options
Border Break V2.0 – New version of their online Mech game
Star Horse 2: Final Destination – Horse racing with a massive cab

VF5: Final Showdown to support Twitter

I thought SEGA was going to be the only company to totally ignore Twitter integration, I was wrong. If there is any game I would would ‘freely promote’ to my followers, its Virtua Fighter.

Users that are playing the arcade version will be able to link their Twitter accounts to their VF.net accounts via PC or cellphone. You will be able to follow players on twitter, without needing to leave the arcade.
