Gamescom 2022: Sonic Frontiers release date confirmed in new story trailer

Gamescom 2022 kicked off, and after several games that take place in the future where you shoot everything in sight the new Sonic Frontiers trailer dropped. Titled the “Story Trailer”, the new footage showcased CG cutscenes as well as gameplay in new environments including tropical and desert islands. Also showcased were the long teased cyberspace levels, which revisit locations from Sonic’s past. Locations included a highway environment, Green Hill and Sky Sanctuary. Sonic also finds Amy imprisoned in a red structure before being confronted by enemies. How about a release date? Fans can expect a global launch date of November 8th, 2022.

The game will release digitally and physically to Xbox and PlayStation platforms, Nintendo Switch and PC. Those who pre-order will receive a treasure box of in-game items including skill points, blue seeds of defense and red seeds of power. Personally, I’d have loved to see a collector’s edition, and the fact that every SEGA franchise except for Sonic seems to get cool physical bonus editions really annoys me. I want a Koco to snuggle, dammit!

The Yakuza Remastered Collection spotted on Play Station store

It looks like SEGA has another reveal ready for Gamescom 2019. Various Twitter users have spotted The Yakuza Remastered Collection on PSN, leading fans to believe that SEGA will be announcing Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 remasters for the west. The three PS3 titles were brought to the PS4 in Japan via individual releases, and it looks like the west will be getting all three assembled into one. More info as we hear it!

Team Sonic Racing debuts Rooftop Run inspired track at Gamescom 2018

SEGA has revealed a new track from the upcoming Team Sonic Racing from Sumo Digital. The track, titled Market Street, is based on Rooftop Run from Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations. From what we’ve heard, the track features a remix of Rooftop Run theme song, and according to Twitter user SonicWindBlue the track Ice Mountain features a remix of the Holaska music from Sonic Unleashed. Also, it seems that the framerate is stable, which is an improvement from the E3 demo. Check out a gallery of screens from Market Street after the break, and don’t forget to pre-order the game!

SEGA reveals Gamescom 2018 lineup

SEGA and ATLUS have just announced what games attendees at Gamescom 2018 in Cologne, Germany can get their hands on. The lineup includes: Total War: THREE KINGDOMS, Team Sonic Racing, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, Persona 3 Dancing in the Moonlight and Persona 5 Dancing in the Starlight. Football Manager 2019 and Two Point Hospital will also have a presence at the event.

Of note to Sonic fans, Team Sonic Racing‘s demo will feature the new Ice Mountain track (which fans have pointed out is a zone in Sonic Advance, though whether that is by chance or intentional is unknown) and two new teams. More of the in-game customization will also be revealed.

All games will be playable at the Deep Silver stand in Hall 9, B011-C010.

Sonic dies in this new Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric trailer, also Metal Sonic and Shadow return

This new trailer for Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric skips right to the point: Sonic dies. So there we go, franchise finished, I’d say it had a good run but every series has to stop sometime I guess. I mean, when was the last time Sonic got revived after dying? Probably in some game that never existed.

Also there are some new screenshots for this and Shattered Crystal and some concept art that reveals that Metal Sonic and Shadow are in this game with their designs unchanged, which you can see after the jump. SEGA also confirmed that both games will come out in Europe on November 21st.

Sonic Lost World Gamescom trailer details 2-player modes and more!

Yahoo! News has released a new Sonic Lost World trailer to coincide with Gamescom 2013. The trailer opens with a peek at a cutscene of Sonic and Tails arriving at Lost Hex in the Tornado, followed by footage of various stages including what appears to be Frozen Factory, a stage in which Sonic skates across icy paths. 2-Player Co-Op Support Mode shows Sonic being controlled by player 1, and the previously revealed gadgets built by tails being controlled by player 2. Past screens and videos showed off the green helicopter, and here we see it again as well as a fighter jet, a hover craft, and a silver UFO. One moment in the video shows the gadget acting as a platform, not unlike New Super Mario Bros. U’s support mode. The support mode actually has Tails voice, as though he is off-screen assisting Sonic. Also on show is a 2 Player Versus Races mode, with the multi-colored robotic Sonics from Sonic Colors making a return. Player one uses the TV screen while player 2 plays on the gamepad screen. MiiVerse Item Sharing allows players to share items like Wisp powers and classic Sonic power-ups including speed shoes, invincibility and Sonic 3’s elemental shields. One Wisp power-up appears to be called “ball”, turning Sonic into a giant black ball. Finally, we hear some taunts from the Deadly Six.

So far, it is one of the most revealing trailers to date with a lot to digest, so give it a few watches to take it all in and then let us know what you think about the game in the comments below!

Dreamcast still thinking at Gamescom 2010

Its already 2010 and the Dreamcast just won’t quit, thanks to the guys over at redspotgames. This is their booth at Gamescom, they have a Dreamcast set up with some of their published games on it to play, sitting next to it is a 360 and Wii.

Redspotgames is working on bringing titles to other platforms, but does not mean they will stop supporting the Dreamcast. They have plans and sadly it is too early to know what those plans are, can’t wait.

Virtua Tennis 4 in action

German SEGA fansite, SEGA Stuff, went to Gamescom, even though SEGA refused to go themselves. Good thing they went, since there was a new SEGA game announced, Virtua Tennis 4.

Above is the video of them playing and it seems that they missed the ball. I guess motion controls are not better than the regular controller. I mean, the whole zoom to first person? No thanks. That is just me.

Rumor: SEGA not attending GamesCom

GamesCom is a big media event held in Cologne, Germany and it seems that our favorite company will not attend the event. This is according to our German friends over at SEGAStuff, who say they received confirmation from a SEGA employee.

The event will take place during August 18th – 22nd and if its true that SEGA will not be there, it will be a bit disappointing.
