SEGA plans to announce a new JRPG during TGS 2021

It seems that SEGA is continuing its trend of making more JRPG games, as its teased during its SEGA Atlus Channel presentation describing it as “Sega’s new RPG”. This new teased JRPG will be fully unveiled on the upcoming Sega Atlus TGS 2021 stream taking place on October 1, 2021 at 10pm JST.

SEGA actually has a pretty rich catalogue of JRPG franchises dating back to the 80s, but it seems that they are going to be adding a brand new franchise to the catalogue. What do you guys want to see from this title?

Magic Knight Rayearth on SEGA Game Gear gets English fan patch

Magic Knight Rayearth is considered to be one of the best Game Gear releases, sadly we couldn’t play the RPG due to the fact that it never came out outside of Japan. But don’t worry, fans and translators Filler and Supper have finally released their English translation project.

Back in 2004, Filler actually released the translated script text and recently Supper took the reins on the project (5 months ago). Since then he has added 11,777 script lines, 200+kb of C++ code, 2,156 lines of assembly hacks, 60k of additional Japanese script lines, and sacrificed hundreds of hours to release this project to the public.

You can check out some of the screenshots here and download the patch via Matt’s Messy Room.

Atlus’ “Project Re Fantasy” first artwork and details revealed

Project-Re-Fantasy-01510A few days ago we told you that Atlus was working on a new fantasy based JRPG which would be developed by a new in-house team called Studio Zero and would be lead by in-house veteran designers. We now have more details on Atlus’ “Project Re Fantasy” which is the current title for the project. We do know that the game won’t be related to previous property and take place in a fantasy setting unlike their other Atlus games that take place in a modern world. Persona series producer and director Katsura Hasino, Persona artist Shigenori Soejima, and composer Shoji Meguro will all be working on the project.

Atlus’ “Project Re Fantasy” will have a live stream on December 23 at 20:00 JST (3am PST) and after that they will start large scale recruitment for the title. Seems that the project is still a ways off. Weekly Famitsu had an interview with Atlus’ company director and Studio Zero creative producer which you can read a translated version after the jump.

Below are scans of Atlus’ “Project Re Fantasy” Weekly Famitsu coverage:

7th Dragon III Code: VFD and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse to hit Europe this Winter

7th_Dragon_III_Code_VFD_Screenshot_09If you remember back in July SEGA announced a European publishing partnership with Deep Silver, which has now confirmed that Europeans will be getting their JRPG fix this winter since both Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse and 7th Dragon III Code: VFD games will be released in the region before the end of the year. Both titles are obviously exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS. Sadly Deep Silver didn’t reveal the exact date, only that they will be released in Europe before the end of 2016.

If you are thinking of picking up 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, you should check out our review on the game. Long story short, if you like JRPGs then its something to keep on your radar. While 7th Dragon III Code: VFD has already been out in America since July 12, 2016, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse won’t release over here until the September 20; so at least one title isn’t much of a wait, all things considering. We will keep you updated on any more information regarding European releases of SEGA and Atlus games, so stay tuned in.

7th Dragon III Code: VFD Demo now on American eShop

I have been playing 7th Dragon III Code: VFD recently, that we even did a first impressions video a week or so ago and now you can give the game a spin with a demo. The 7th Dragon III Code: VFD Demo was released on the American e-Shop on the Nintendo 3DS. I highly suggest you give the game a try, especially since 7th Dragon III Code: VFD demo saves transfer to the final game:

“Demo saves transfer over to the main game, and are not only encouraged, but rewarded! The demo provides players with a streamlined pre-made group with a character cap of level 10, and once you transfer the save data to the full game, you can refund all the skill points and customize the group any way you want.”

7th Dragon III Code: VFD demo is highly recommended for users that want a new SEGA JRPG. The game has a pretty nice soundtrack composed by SEGA veteran Yuzo Koshiro (Streets of Rage games) and co-produced by Rieko Kodama (Phantasy Star, Skies of Arcadia). Give the demo a go and tell us what you think of 7th Dragon III Code: VFD in the comments below
