It’s Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games… What a mouthful!
If there is something I don’t think anyone could fault Sega for, it’s their very impressive CGI and Mario/Sonic/London as I’m now calling it does not disappoint on the CGI front!

A great trailer and hopefully a great game! Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games will release for the Nintendo Wii on November 15th in North America, November 18th in Europe and the DS version will release Febuary 2012.

Nintendo Power’s Classic and Modern Cover Variants Hitting Newsstands

While we had previously reported on the screens found within Nintendo Power’s Shinobi and Sonic Generations 3DS reveal issue, we have yet to share the two versions of the cover. Now hitting newsstands are two way past cool covers featuring Classic and Modern Sonic. I’ve been keeping my eye on my local newsstand, making a sad face every time I saw the old Zelda cover of this past month on the rack. But today the awesome Sonic covers hit and I snatched them right up, thus falling into NP’s trap and giving them double the money. Oh well, it’s worth it for Classic Sonic.

Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary – Trailer

This year isn’t just Sonics 20th birthday! No, this year is also the 20th anniversary of one of the best if not the very best ‘falling blocks’ puzzle game ever, Puyo Puyo! To celebrate, Sega is releasing a Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary game for the Nintendo DS which will feature 20 years of Puyo Puyo game modes and characters.

These modes are from fan favourites like Puyo Puyo Sun, Tsu and Puyo Pop Fever amongst others. Returning characters range from the early days right up to Puyo Puyo 7. The Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary game features coop and competitive wireless gameplay for up to 8 players!

If nothing else, the trailer is worth a watch simply for that man in the ball… Good stuff Japan!

Sonic Generations Heading to 3DS?

The GameStop/EBGames release schedule for Nintendo 3DS games in 2011 has just been printed and it seems that there’s a nice suprise hidden amongst a torrent of meh games and ports. Sonic Generations is way down there at the bottom of the list! So awesome a real reason to buy the 3DS! I wonder if this’ll turn up on the NDS or the next Nintendo console too?

Worth a mention CRUSH 3DS (one of the best puzzle games EVER MADE) is on the list and so is Mario & Sonic at the London Olympics.

Rumor: Nintendo only Sonic game incoming? [update]

[update] Seems like some sources have changed or the lack of sleep really got to me. The game is NOT teased as ‘Nintendo developed’ but as being on a ‘Nintendo platform’. 95% sure this will be the Sonic 3DS game. [/update]

Nintendo fans have been complaining that HD users are getting Sonic Generation, but those Nintendo only users might have their own exclusive title to look forward to!

According to Eurogamer Portugal, the next  issue of Nintendo Power (the E3 edition) is going to reveal a new Sonic game exclusively for a Nintendo platform.

SEGA Sequel Saturdays Presents: F-Zero GX

Hello and welcome to your weekly dose of potential SEGA Sequel Awesomeness (yeah I did just say that). Before I get started on Episode 14, though, I’d like to give a shout out to another pretty amazing sequel that has nothing to do with SEGA. As anyone who has been following my Twitter likely knows by now, I’ve been seriously loving the new Mortal Kombat game. If you’ve ever been a fan of the Mortal Kombat series, especially games 1-4, I’d definitely recommend checking MK9 out on your HD system of choice, really a lot of fun.

Anyway, without further ado…this is one I’ve been wanting to write since last week, when IGN’s Martin Robinson did an article celebrating the Amusement Vision-developed F-Zero GX. After reading his piece, what I had always thought in the back of my head was brought completely to the surface: I don’t think a new F-Zero game could be as good as GX was without SEGA’s Amusement Vision back at the helm.

5 SEGA crossovers that need to happen

When I was a kid I used to love my crossover comics, I really got obsessed with the idea of having my favorite video games in a crossover, especially after I played Fighters Megamix on the Saturn. I thought it was brilliant. Capcom has been doing this crossover thing for awhile and in a few days they will release Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which makes me wonder why SEGA doesn’t do more crossovers.

SEGA: 3DS shows Nintendo’s brilliance

Possibly the best new piece of hardware shown at E3 this year, is getting praise by SEGA West President Mike Hayes. He is even talking about mature audiences.

“With the quality of the device they’ve got it’s possible they can expand their audience into an older, broader audience. It was interesting to see games like Saint’s Row on the device. If we could bring, let’s say, a House of the Dead or an Aliens title, if the audience for 3DS is much broader it could give us much more scope in that market, and that’s as exciting as well as Mario & Sonic and Monkey Ball games. The 3DS is Nintendo through and through, this is Nintendo’s brilliance. They’re almost in their own technological world, doing their own thing. Whilst 3D TV is quite an amazing technology advancement, and many companies will get into that, Nintendo will now create this huge business with their own unique piece of technology that very few if any, will be able to copy. That’s Nintendo over and over again, it’s fantastic. For us as a third-party it’s a great leg up in terms of the portable business.” – Mike Hayes

I expect the 3DS to be more successful than the DS just because I agree with Mike Hayes, the appeal is more broader compared to the original DS.

Pokemon on a SEGA system?

We already know that SEGA has been making games for Nintendo systems, they are 3rd party after all. But did you know that Nintendo made a Pokemon game for SEGA Pico? They did a Pokemon game in 2003. Video above.
