Alpha Protocol developer not proud of final product

Alpha Protocol has been getting mixed reviews due to its bugs and other issues. Some loved it, guys at Joystiq did not. One of the developers commented on the review, saying SEGA should have canceled Alpha Protocol instead of Aliens RPG. Regardless of drama, I will be bringing you a review in the upcoming days.

Shogun 2 Total War for E3?

Sega and the Creative Assembly have been hinting at a new Total War game with a teaser count down on their home page HERE.  However this is no ordinary count down! In true Total War style instead of counting down in mere days to announcement it is counting down in historically important dates.  The date is currently at 1751 but is almost certain to drop further considering the latest news we have heard.

Creative Assembly first hinted to IGN that the next game would be ‘back to basics’ this made it quite apparent that we would be dealing with a sequel. Having had a sequel to Medieval 2 only recently, this leaves Rome: Total War and Shogun: Total War.

And if Turkish site ‘Oyungezer‘ is to believed it will be Shogun Total War we see at E3 2010. The site claims to have been penciled in by Sega Europe for a 2:30pm appointment to talk about Shogun 2: Total War.

While I would take this as a rumour for now, it was either this or the other and now the scales seem to point to this!

Alpha Protocol: PC vs. 360 vs. PS3 comparison

Alpha Protocol is coming out on 3 platforms, but which platform looks the best? I got to say, all three look the same to me. Sure the PC version is a bit sharper. But not by much.

Obviously the site is not running the PC version to its full potential, but since this is the only comparison out so far, it is safe to assume each platform is a safe buy. The game is out today in Europe, out in America on June 1st.

The first 10 minutes of Alpha Protocol

Alpha Protocol comes out tomorrow in Europe and June 1st in the United States, you can check what the first 10 minutes of the game is like. The video was posted by Xbox Evolved.

Why does Micheal walk around like he is a huge body builder unable to move his shoulders or chest? I guess that is how spies walk.

Alpha Protocol Multipath Trailer.

The nifty Alpha Protocol trailer with multiple choice endings is now up on youtube. (So we can finally embed it on Segabits now! Thanks Sega!)

When you hear the woman say ‘Where too Mike?’ you can choose the next step of the trailer by simply clicking on the destination you want on the video. Then it will promptly load the next part. If you ask me it’s a pretty cool way to highlight the ‘choice system’ of the game

[Special thanks to Julian.]

Aliens vs. Predator coming to OnLive

OnLive is a ‘cloud computing’ service that will let you play any games (that are on the service), on a decent PC, as long as you have a internet connection. How does it do this? It streams the game online, so the game is never actually playing on your PC, its playing on a PC owned by OnLive. I don’t think the service will be that popular, but we shall see.

The title is suppose to be a launch line-up for OnLive. It is set to launch on June 17th at the E3 Expo. Hopefully you have a fast enough internet connection.

Remember that Alpha Protocol comes out on June 1st in America. Amazon has the game a few bucks cheaper, so drop in that pre-order if you haven’t yet. The game is coming to the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

SEGA bringing 16-bit classics to Steam

SEGA will be bringing some of its SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive classics to a PC near you starting June 1st. SEGA’s first games released will be Golden Axe, Ecco the Dolphin, and Vectorman.

SEGA stated they will cost $2.99 per title. The games will be coming to Steam and “other platforms,” but lets be honest, we all probably use Steam.

SEGA sent out screens for Gain Ground, Altered Beast, Space Harrier, Crack Down, Sonic 3D Blast, and Shadow Dancer; assuming these games will be coming out as well. I did not upload screens of the games because we already know what they look like.

Alpha Protocol music video trailer

Seems that this whole “music video trailer” thing seems to be a popular thing to do, now SEGA is flexing their rhythm and trying to make you remember the name of the protagonist in Alpha Protocol.

All I got out of the trailer is that Michael Thornton’s name is said by a ton of characters in the game, so much so that they can make a 1 minute music video out of it.

Steam’s SEGA Week brings insane deals

You have Steam and enjoy deals, right? Now you can get 24 SEGA games & pieces of content on Steam, for the mere price of $90 bucks. If you buy each title, alone, you would be spending over $400 dollars.  Just want Aliens vs. Predator? Its 50% off and costs 25 bucks right now, stand alone.

You get your Total War fix, plus some Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, Outrun Coast 2 Coast and Virtua Tennis 2009. To get the list of all the games in the special, hit the jump.

First Alpha Protocol review comes in

The first review is in, from Spanish magazine PlayMania (issue 127). The review is that the game is great, scoring a 88 out of a hundred.

Graphics -> 80 – The exteriors are not so bad but the models and their animations are far from perfect.
Sound -> 90 – Appropriate soundtrack.
Diversity -> 89 – Even though it’s the same game, there are many possibilities when it comes to customizing your character and deciding how to play.
Duration -> 90 – The replayability factor is really high. You can play Alpha Protocol a lot of times without experiencing the same adventure.

Overall -> 88 – A spy role playing game that succeeds in blending action with stealth and gives players a high degree of freedom in choosing how they want to proceed.

Game comes out on June 1st in America, you can pre-order it on Amazon [360 PS3PC] and save yourself a few bucks.

Alpha Protocol has gone gold

Alpha Protocol has finally gone gold. After all the damn delays, it is now guaranteed to come out May 28th in Europe and June 1st in America.

Unless for some reason SEGA decides not to release the title at all. That would suck!

Obsidian CEO says Aliens RPG felt finished

We know that Aliens RPG has been in development for awhile, then SEGA had to go in and pull the plug.

At a press event last week, Joystiq asked Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart some questions about Aliens RPG. So what did he have to say about the unreleased game?

“Oh, if you had come in and played any of the last builds we were working on, you would have said it was a finished game, that’s how close we were. It looked and felt like it was ready to ship.”

Other info he gave out was that you only played as the Colonial Marines in the game, that missions would involve tasks like protecting sentry guns  that were featured in a deleted scene in Aliens the movie.
