New Yakuza game with Ichiban Kasuga to be more comedic than dramatic

The SEGA Fes 2019 event had a Yakuza Fan Meeting where the General Yakuza Director and Chief Creative Officer Toshihiro Nagoshi spoke about Shin Yakuza, aka the next Yakuza game staring Ichiban Kasuga.

He talked about how the team has been changing what it means to be a Yakuza type game, they said Judgement is the first experiment. The only specifics he gave was that the game will now aim less in ‘having teary moments’ and more comedic and goofy scenes that interconnect at the end of a story, which will have impact on player’s emotion. SEGA FES 2019: Six new titles announced for the SEGA AGES series

More news has dropped regarding to the SEGA AGES series, this time a lot of announced titles coming to the series sometime in the future. These titles are Puzzle & Action Ichidant-R, Shinobi, G-loc Air Battle, Fantasy Zone, Herzog Zwei, and Wonder Boy in Monster Land. Each title will be based on their original arcade version, with the exception being Herzog Zwei instead being based on the Mega Drive version. No other information such as pricing, release date, or any other additional features have been revealed.

This announcement notably means that G-loc Air Battle will have the original arcade version ported to a home console for the first time, while this will be the first time SEGA used the Herzog IP after the acquirement of Technosoft’s library. What is your thoughts on these titles coming to the SEGA AGES series?

SEGA confirms that ‘Project Sakura Wars’ is coming West

SEGA has updated their twitter letting their fans know that the new Sakura Wars project, that just got a trailer at SEGA Fes 2019, will be coming West. Can I just say how much I love these sort of announcements that go along with Japanese reveals? I hope we have more in store.

It looks like SEGA’s Zack Reese had some tweets on how he will be working on Project Sakura Wars:

SEGA trademarks the English ‘Sakura Wars’ name in Japan

If you missed the news, last year SEGA announced at SEGA Fes 2018 that there will be a brand new Sakura Wars title and so far we haven’t heard much about it. But SEGA has now filed for a new trademark in Japan for the name ‘Sakura Wars’. That’s right, the English version of the name has been trademarked and not ‘Sakura Taisen’. The application was filed by SEGA Games on February 26, 2019 to be used in video games, music, movies, streaming services, and more. Expect SEGA to have more Sakura Wars news at SEGA Fes 2019 this upcoming March 30th.

Outside of this Sakura Wars will have a couple of art exhibits this year, but what I really want is for a new modern take on the series and a re-release of the originals (that finally come to America!).

SEGA Fes 2019 to feature Exhibitions for Sakura Wars & Atlus Games, Giant Saturn Controller and more

At this year’s SEGA Fes event taking place in Japan, SEGA plans to have exhibitions for Sakura Wars and Atlus Games which will be taking the center stage at the event. The Sakura Wars series will have an exhibition on the 2nd floor with displays of various memorabilla and artwork from it’s game development. For Atlus, they will be celebrating it’s 30 year anniversary by showcasing various games developed by the company, including Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, Etrian Odyssey, and more.

To expand on Sega Saturn’s 25th Anniversary in 2019, a giant Sega Saturn controller will be present with playable classics like Fighters Megamix, Dynamite Cop, and Hanagumi Taisen Columns.

Aside from this, the main stage will feature news on upcoming games, new game reveals, and a Puyo Puyo E-Sports tournament. SEGA Fes 2019 will be held from March 30-31, 2019 in Japan at Bellesalle Akihabara, Tokyo.

SEGA Fes 2019 to host SEGA Saturn’s 25th Anniversary Event with Hiroshi Fujioka as special guest

This month will be an exciting one for every SEGA fan out there as SEGA FES 2019 is only 30 days away from us! To celebrate this year’s event, the SEGA Festival will be hosting a special event dedicated to the SEGA Saturn’s 25th Anniversary and celebrating it’s launch in Japan since the console’s release on September 1994.

The stage presentation will take look back on the history of Sega Saturn 25 years together with those who are deeply involved with the Sega Saturn and people from the industry, including the appearance of Hiroshi Fujioka who portrayed as Segata Sanshiro, a martial artist who commanded people to play Sega Saturn games, for the console’s commercials over the years.

The stage presentation will be held at SEGA FES 2019 on March 30th at Bersaar Akihabara. We will keep our readers posted on more news regarding SEGA FES 2019 this month. Are you looking forward to this year’s SEGA FES? Let’s us know on the comments below.

SEGA FES 2019 announced for March 30th and 31st in Japan

SEGA FES returns this year with another fan centric event in Japan where there will surely be some big announcements. This year’s event takes place March 30th and the 31st in the BelleSalle Akihabara event hall in Tokyo, Japan. Last year we saw the reveal of the Mega Drive Mini, SEGA AGES, a new Sakura Taisen game and the Japanese release of Shenmue I & II.

This year? Who knows! My money is on a more concrete date and details of the Mega Drive Mini, a trailer for Sakura Taisen and more SEGA AGES announcements. I know it’s a stretch, but I’m hoping we see more titles from SEGA’s survey of fan favorite franchises. Remember, the only games in the top 5 not to see new titles are Jet Set Radio and Virtua Fighter. A new game for either franchise would be awesome for fans!

Until then, we can only speculate but once the event arrives we will be sure to share the news of what is revealed!
