Sonic Mania is coming to Nintendo Switch, and now you can pre-order the Collector’s Edition of the game for the upcoming home console. As with the other Sonic Mania Collector’s Editions coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC the list price is $69.99 and Prime members save an additional 20%. The edition comes with a deluxe collector’s box, a 12″ statue with SEGA startup audio, a SEGA cartridge cast with golden ring and a metallic collector’s card with download key.

If you’re going with the Switch version, you can pre-order the Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition here. The game is due out Spring 2017, and Amazon lists a placeholder date of May 31, 2017.

Sonic Mania announced to release to Nintendo Switch

Following the Nintendo Switch conference, and Nagoshi’s presentation which offered little information on upcoming games, SEGA shared some cool announcements. Puyo Puyo Tetris is coming to PS4 and Switch in the Americas and Europe, and Sonic Mania is confirmed to be releasing to the Nintendo Switch in the spring of 2017, in addition to the already announced PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms. This makes the Switch the only handheld version of the game, in a sense. However, one downside is that there appears to be no collector’s edition of the game for Nintendo Switch owners, unless of course SEGA reveals one in the coming weeks.

More information as we hear it.

Sonic and Tails gameplay footage from Sonic Mania

IGN has posted a nearly 4 minute gameplay video of Sonic and Tails together and apart in… Studiopolis Zone Act 1 from Sonic Mania. In case you get confused like some YouTube commenters, about a minute and a half in, there’s a dissolve edit where Sonic gameplay transitions into the player controlling Tails. It’s not a new switching feature or anything.

It’s great seeing more footage of the game in action, but it would be quite nice to see some different levels!

Watch raw footage of Sonic Mania’s Mirage Saloon Zone and enjoy the new music!

Hey, Polygon did something right! While yesterday footage of Sonic Mania‘s new zone Mirage Saloon released, the video featured commentary meaning we could not hear the sweet Tee Lopes music and retro sound effects. Now, Polygon has uploaded footage of Knuckles in Mirage Saloon Zone. Aside from showing off some new areas in the stage, we get a good listen to the music which features a very Ennio Morricone sounding “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” whistle.

Check it out for yourself, and in the comments below let us know what you think of the new zone and music!

See the new Sonic Mania stage Mirage Saloon Zone and Tails & Knuckles in action

SEGA has granted YouTube channel Kinda Funny Games the exclusive reveal of a new Sonic Mania stage, Mirage Saloon Zone, as well as our first look at Tails and Knuckles in action as well as the Sonic & Tails mode. Interestingly, the new zone is very reminiscent of Desert Dazzle, a scrapped original zone that Taxman had planned to include in the remaster of Sonic CD. There are several easter eggs and fun visuals that can be spotted in the new zone, including a Fang the Sniper wanted poster and pinball flippers that resemble bird heads. We also get a look at the CRT filter which, to be honest, I’m not that big a fan of.

Give the video a watch and in the comments below, sound off on the new zone!

“Long lost” Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition infomercial released

The Sonic the Hedgehog social media team has just unearthed a long lost infomercial for the upcoming Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition! Created as an homage to the classic Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ad, the Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition ad shows off the bonus items found inside the Spring 2017 release including the statue of Sonic standing on a Genesis/Mega Drive, the metallic game code card and the game cartridge that contains a gold ring. The ad also notes that the box can hold ANY tacklebox. Keep your eyes peeled for cameos from Kazuyuki Hoshino, Takashi Iizuka (in shirt form) and Aaron Webber (congrats!).

Pre-order the Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition today, available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition announced

Sonic Mania Pre Order

Sonic Mania is having a lot of love put into it by literally being a game for the fans by the fans, but SEGA is taking it to the next level by introducing a special Collector’s Edition. The package itself comes in a deluxe box with artwork based on the North American release of Sonic the Hedgehog, a Sonic statue on top of a model 1 SEGA Genesis with a special SEGA chant if you flip the switch, a Metallic Collector’s Card that contains a download code for Sonic Mania, and a cast with a gold ring shaped like a SEGA Genesis cartridge.

The package is available on Amazon for pre-order in North America for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, all for $69.99. No word if PAL or Asian countries will receive an equivalent. Note that despite Amazon listing the game for a May 31 2017 release, it’s a placeholder date and the game still has a tentative release window of Spring 2017.

Amazon Offers Limited Edition Sonic Mania T-Shirts

sonic_mania_shirts

Sonic Mania still has a way to go, but we’re already getting merchandise rolling in with limited edition T-shirts available through Amazon. These shirts are available for a limited time only, until the end of the month, sporting two designs for both US and UK regions.

Both shirts come in a set of colors for men and women of multiple sizes. One features a beautiful poster-esque image of Studiopolis and the other featuring profiles of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles; the triple threat. Oddly enough, the triple threat shirts appear to be different between regions, with the UK version sporting the Sonic Mania logo, and the US one featuring just their heads.

Gorgeous designs they are, although I’m holding out for a poster of Studiopolis myself!

US: [Studiopolis] [Triple-Threat]

UK: [Studiopolis] [Icon Shirt]
