This week in gaming: The Witch returns

This is something I always wanted to do on a Sunday, this will be a weekly feature where I post links to stories in gaming for the week that I liked or seen around. This means it won’t be SEGA related, most likely.

  • – The Witcher 2 debut trailer – The surprise may have been killed off due to alpha footage being leaked, the debut trailer for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is still very impressive. Developers have stated this is more  ‘non-linear’ compared to the first game; can’t wait!
  • No Penny Arcade Episode 3Even though I can’t walk around here all high and mighty, condemning you all for not buying the first 2 episodes; because I have not played them. But it is a bit sad seeing another episodic series fail.
  • Xbox Game Room launches – Microsoft’s Xbox Game Room has launched, a bit rough at first but seems to be running fine for me. Problem is there is not much stuff to do. Fan reaction has been mixed.
  • Biggest winners and losers for March – Can you believe that SEGA made it in at number 2? Go SEGA. Check out the other 5 winners.

So what stories did you guys read this week that you guys liked?

360 Gamer rates Sonic Adventure XBLA port

SEGA might not have revealed Sonic Adventure for XBLA, but it seems that 360 Gamer magazine has already done a review for the title. They say that the port has no extras and its basically Sonic Adventure DX on your 360.

If you wanted to know, they gave the game a 5 out of 10, stating “really hasn’t aged well.” Oh well, I guess we can skip this one.

After Burner Climax achievements revealed

I bet you can’t wait to get your hands on the XBLA/PSN port of After Burner Climax? I can’t either, but it seems SEGA has been pretty hush hush about the port.

Well we have a small update, the achievement list for the upcoming game has made it online and you can read it here. As for trophies, they will be the same.

Sonic 4.1: Eggman’s checkered ball [Update]

[EDIT: SEGA has asked us to remove the picture in question. You can read the rest of the story about the photo below]

This screen was posted via our forums by our residential troll. I was not going to post it up at first, but the screen does look real. Thoughts?

[Update] It is real, according to Tweaker from Sonic Retro, the image was posted in a IRC room and not suppose to be shown to the public. Of course, Kogen then decided to post that image on our forums, thus creating this post. [/Update]

New After Burner Climax trailer and info

There has been little to no After Burner Climax information, so we are posting the little information SEGA has posted online. First of all we have a new trailer, that is fast and full of action above.

In one of the game’s blog updates, producer Toru Murayama confirmed that the game will not have online co-op. They decided to “hold off” on the feature after talking with the original arcade team. The game will be shown in playable form next week in the Xbox 360 Shooting Festa.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 video leaks

Well there you go! A leaked off screen video of ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 4’. You can clearly see four levels, Splash Hill Zone, Lost Labyrinth Zone, Casino Street Zone, Mad Gear Zone not to mention a special stage. Each seem to have three acts and a boss battle.

Four Zones with Three levels each and one boss means twelve levels in total, four bosses and a special stage. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a fifth final zone.  At the right price I think that’s a good amount of content for a downloadable game.

As for impressions,

SEGAbits Swingin’ Report Show #1: Episode One

Here is the first SEGAbits podcast, proudly named the “Swingin’ Report Show” and if you didn’t get the reference, it is from Space Channel 5. Sorry if we freeze up sometimes, I have not done a podcast since forever and I’m sure Sharky and Aki-at haven’t done one in a long time either. Besides that, enjoy our very first show!

A look at SEGA All-Star Racing’s achievements

SASASRachivements

The achievements for Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing were posted a few days ago, but it was missing the secret achievements; now the list is complete. As for trophies, I assume they will all be the same, it even has an achievement that acts like a platinum trophy called “Ultimate Collection.”

The names for the achievements are awesome, love all the SEGA references, it even has Project Rub. Kudos to the guys at Sumo Digital, they know how choose achievement names. Check all the achievements here.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 website update: Badniks

sonicep1

The American/European website of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 just got an update. A “Badniks” section has finally been added in the character box and for now, only one of a total of nine are shown (Hopefully nine is all their going to show us and not the total amount in the game!) and the first one revealed and one we’ve seen before, albeit in concept art, Motobug! Head over to SonictheHedgehog4.com if you want to see the game model to Sonic’s old foe.

SEGA All-Stars Racing Demo is up! (XBLA)

The Sonic & SEGA Allstar Raing demo has finally gone up! I am currently downloading the Xbox360 version which is 1.03GB. Rumour has it that on the Xbox360 version there are two playable characters, Sonic and Banjo.
(Apparently the demo is only open to people with gold accounts.)

The PS3 version it is not up yet, It will probably be up this Thursday (11th) when PSN is updated.

Join Sonic and his Sega friends in the race of your life. Dodge weapons, perform tricks and drifts, seek short cuts and look out for that elusive all-star move pick-up as you blast past your rivals in to pole position. Winning has never tasted so sweet!

I know what I’m going to be doing today!
