Yakuza 6 launches on Xbox Game Pass on March 25 on Xbox, PC and the Cloud

If you’re a long time SEGA fan on Xbox and have been looking forward to Yakuza 6: The Song of Life on the Xbox and/or Xbox Game Pass for PC, then you’re in luck! In a little less than 2 weeks you’ll be able to finish the Kazuma Kiryu storyline.

It looks like March is a big month for Game Pass as its also getting:

  • Undertale (Cloud, Console, and PC) – March 16
  • Empire of Sin (Cloud, Console, and PC) – March 18
  • Nier: Automata (PC) – March 18
  • Star Wars: Squadrons (Console) EA Play – March 18
  • Torchlight 3 (PC) – March 18
  • Genesis Noir (Console and PC) – March 25
  • Octopath Traveler (Console and PC) – March 25
  • Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire – Ultimate Edition (PC) – March 25
  • Supraland (PC) – March 25
  • Yakuza 6: The Song of Life (Cloud, Console and PC) – March 25
  • Narita Boy (Cloud, Console and PC) – March 30
  • Outriders (Cloud and Console) – April 1

Since Yakuza 6 will support the ‘cloud’ that means you’ll be able to stream it to compatible devices including your phone.

The Yakuza Remastered Collection and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life are coming Xbox Game Pass, Windows 10, and Steam in 2021

During the Game Awards 2020, SEGA and RGG Studio have announced that The Yakuza Remastered and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will be available on Xbox Game Pass, Windows 10, and Steam. Players will now be able to experience the entire mainline Kiryu Saga on these available consoles.

The Yakuza Remastered Collection will be released January 28, 2021 (Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 also available separately) and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life on March 25, 2021.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 through Xbox Game Pass

SEGA has announced that Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be releasing to Xbox One and Windows 10 through the Xbox Game Pass service on July 30, 2020. The game joins Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami which are already on the digital service. Like Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is an HD remake, this time of Yakuza 2. Yakuza Kiwami 2 is the first Xbox One and Windows 10 game in the series to utilize Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s powerful Dragon Engine.

Streets of Rage 4 coming to Microsoft Game Pass on day one

While Streets of Rage 4 was already teased as a Game Pass game, it wasn’t confirmed or really talked about after the announcement. Was the game going to be timed exclusive? Would it be on sale first then come to Xbox Game Pass? Now the Facebook page has confirmed that it will be available to Game Pass consumers the same day as it goes on sale digitally.

The issue? Its coming soon, without a solid release date. I guess now we wait.

Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 coming to Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass

SEGA has just announced at X019 in London that SEGA America and Ryu Ga Gotoku studio will be bringing three Yakuza games not just to Xbox One and Xbox One X, but also the Xbox One Game Pass. If you don’t know what Game Pass is, its basically Microsoft’s SEGA Channel or Netflix service where you pay monthly to play all the games you want in a revolving number of titles.

This is huge news, now if only SEGA could port these games on the Nintendo Switch, then everyone will be happy!

SEGA is partnering up with existing subscription services, not launching their own

GameDaily.Biz had a big interview with people from SEGA Europe including Anna Downing, Vice President of Marketing and John Clark, Executive Vice President.

One of the big questions asked to John Clark was the big focus this year on streaming services from publishers. If you didn’t know, SEGA used to be in the forefront of the ‘Netflix style’ streaming service way back in the early 90s with the launch of SEGA Channel.

“From our point of view, we work with partners, and we’re not considering our own platform or our own subscription service, at this stage we don’t know really what subscription means for the gaming audience. We’ve talked to all the partners that you mentioned. We are part of the plans for Game Pass. And that’ll give us a lot of knowledge. We’ve announced Football Manager as part of that. When it launches, we’ll be able to understand how the gaming subscription audience interacts with the title and if subscription is a viable way forward for the games industry. We prefer, at this stage, to be working with channel partners who are investing their time and money to try and understand the audience what the audience wants.” – John Clark, SEGA Europe Excutive Vice President.

Microsoft adds Alien: Isolation to Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft is beefing up their Xbox Game Pass, which is being billed online as a Netflix of games. Which is true, you pay the low monthly fee and have access to a ton of games including Gears of War 4, Forza series and even the newly released Crackdown 3. They are also working on getting older games released on the Xbox Game Pass, this latest update brings Alien: Isolation on the platform.

It should be interesting to see if Xbox Game Pass works out for Microsoft, if you have it and haven’t played Alien: Isolation; get on it!

Xbox Game Pass subscription program to feature SEGA games

Today, Microsoft announced a new video game rental subscription service known as Xbox Game Pass. For $9.99 per month, users will be given access to over 100 Xbox One and backwards compatible Xbox 360 games digitally. Of course, first party games are available, but several third party publishers are also on board including SEGA (why else would we report on this?). Other publishers on board include 2K, 505 Games, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, Capcom, Codemasters, Deep Silver, Focus Home Interactive, SNK CORPORATION, THQ Nordic GmbH and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
